Gino, what upsets me the worst is knowing that sooner or later the State Dept is going to get around to labelling RAWA a terrorist organisation as a sop to Kharazis punks - and that'll cause all manner of hassle to everyone who ever supported them.

They've ALREADY had several schools blown to hell by american bombs cause they were fingered as "terrorist training camps" by the K-mans goons.

Me, I don't think they're militant *enough*, but I gotta hand credit to em for guts, the girls that serve as sentries, since they cannot get away with being visibly armed, their job is to physically tackle anyone with a bomb or demo charge strapped to em and try like hell to set it off right there, away from the school - and they've DONE this, without batting a freaking eye.

I may fault em here and there on other things, naivety, lack of militancy, but their courage is beyond question, given how they're willing to stand off all comers, up to and including the USA, in defense of education, tolerance, and a kind of humanity that is truly humane.

Seems to me this is the legacy of years of Taliban rule and the deeply entrenched fundamentalist Islamic mindset they left behind. The article does note this. At least now these problems are recognized as problems and being addressed, rather than just being business as usual.
