My Wife & I are discussing becoming foster parents to a little kid from Haiti or Burma or wherever as a way of doing our part to help the world.
It's frankly a scary proposition, but hey, whatever. It comes with the territory.
We are not rich, but, like with our other two kids, we could find a way.
I feel like it's time to do more than throw more dollars at a relief fund.

Anyone have similar feelings here?

I believe you are VERY fortunate to have such an opportunity, should you choose. You can change the world entire in that one child's eyes by doing that.

As a single male, I'd never be allowed to do such a thing, unless I was so rich I could buy the law.

I'm inclined to say I truly envy you this, but apparently envy is a sin, (not my book) and how could it be sinful to want to give an orphan child hope and life and love and high fructose corn syrup?

And someday, when they're ready, Firefly...

I suppose that's true, though I've never played it. My only video game addiction is Golden Tee Golf. (It's all about the ball!) Still, I imagine you can't grow up in 'murrica anymore without an X-station or Playbox of some sort. Child Services would no doubt step in...
