"Holiday Inn Offers 'Human Bed-Warming Service' to Combat Icy Sheets

Holiday Inn, operator of over 4,000 hotels worldwide, will begin to offer a free five-minute "human bed-warming service" at its London Kensington hotel throughout next week.

If requested, a willing member of hotel staff will jump in your bed, dressed head to foot in an all-in-one sleeper suit, until your nightly chamber warms up.

Holiday Inn spokeswoman Jane Bednall described the plan as something like having a "giant hot water bottle in your bed."

Dr Chris Idzikowski, director of the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, said the idea could help people get off to sleep, as cold beds inhibit slumber.

"Holiday Inn's new bed warmers service should help people achieve a good night's sleep especially as it's taking much longer for them to warm up when they come in from the snow."

Actually there's an old law in Seattle, I think, that all hotels must offer a cat with the room, dating back to when mice were a more serious problem, and occasionally found in lists of "strange laws" here and there.

I did stay at a bed and breakfast in vermont once that had this monster maine coon cat as "rodent control patrol" and they advised me to keep the door shut if I didn't want him flopped on me, so of course I left the door open - folks, when it comes to warming a cold bed, I don't think nothin beats the fluffy, furry mass of a maine coon, I had to shove him off to the foot of the bed cause it was gettin TOO warm.

Keep the human, loan me the cat.

I have to take a shower just reading this... seriously, ewwww...

I'm sure that they take the utmost care to make sure the person is covered and that there is no chance of passing on "cooties", but the thought of some stranger in my bed... must shower NOW...
