In semi-related robot news, Audi plans to go for a class record at Pike's Peak this October, sending their driverless Robo-Audi TTS up the grueling 14-mile dirt-and-gravel course on its own. It's nicknamed "Shelly", after the great Audi rally driver Michele Mouton, who set numerous class records and revolutionized rally racing (and racing in general) with her Audi Quattro rally car in the early 80s. She's the first (and only, so far) woman to win a stage in the World Rally Championship, in 1981, and she finished second overall in the championship in 1982, relegated to runner-up on account of her Audi's reliability issues with its new Quattro all-wheel-drive drivetrain. In 1985, she became the first woman to win the Pike's Peak International Hillclimb outright.

Mouton quit racing professionally in 1986, after the infamous Group B (known as "The Killer B's" after a number of deadly accidents in competition and testing) rally cars were banned. She said she had no interest in driving the slower Group A cars.
