"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Some days, you just can't walk out the door without getting hit with your daily dose of irony.

Seems the right is up in arms about all the "czars" in Obama's administration. They're upset that they're actually being called "czars", for one thing. That's just PART of the irony.

Wasn't it Nixon who brought in the first "czar", as he called him? Yup. That would be Nixon's "Energy Czar", William E. Simon, who launched the Federal Energy Administration while he was still Treasury Secretary under ol' Tricky Dick.

Then it was Reagan who just ran apeshit with czars. He had a drug czar, an education czar, and more.

And at last count, Dubya Bush (aka "Shrub") had no fewer than 47 czars in his eight years, serving in 37 positions.

Now they're bitching that Obama has too many czars, and they're bitching because they're CALLED "czars" in the first place. This is where the irony gets really thick, and the Republicans show either how stupid THEY are, or how stupid they think WE are:

The man they call variously a "Socialist" or a "Communist", they now accuse of having too many "czars". And they want to overthrow the czars.

Now, refresh my memory, but who was it who overthrew the czar in Russian history? What group was it that overthrew the government and killed the czar in 1917? Weren't THEY...

The COMMUNISTS?!

Oh well - at least the GOP has the color right. Looks like they'd rather be red than red.

While keeping government small is something that should be happening,

delegating responsibility, especially responsibility's that require more time and effort to stay ontop of isn't a bad thing.

At least it gives the public someone to blame, just ask Brownie

Yeah, the Republicans really are the party of post-modernism. It's all a hall o' mirrors when you get deep in there. After the Speaker of the House actually spoke movingly yesterday about the need to modulate the violent rhetoric in Washington lest we see real violence errupting, ol' Fox News has been spinning it today that Pelosi alluding to the possibility of violence is really what would "give people ideas," and, you know, incite violence.

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.
