So, I was thinking to day about the "individual mandate", or rather "shared responsibility" provision of the health care reform bills currently fermenting in congress. The logic is fucking brilliant. The way to assure universal health insurance coverage is to simply make it illegal to not have health insurance! Easy peasy.

But, as clever as that is, I can go one better. Forget health insurance, hell, forget health care. All we need to do is make it illegal to get sick!!

We'll call it the "Personal Responsibility Mandate".

Somebody get me Obama's phone number...

Sorry, Sarge, but it won't fly with that name.

Personal Responsibility? I can hear the Liberals cringing from here. That's too much like Personal Judgement, or Personal Rights. It's got to be Group Responsibility, Judgement and Rights for the good of the Group.

Nah, they're clever enough to recognize an Orwellian euphemism designed to fool conservatives. Get with the program, man. 'Bama will deliver it with a wink and a nudge and we're off to the races!
