" This is the same facility where three live plague-inflected mice went missing in September 2005.
Officials concluded those mice died..."

DREAMTROVE

Bubonic plague has not died out as a disease, but it's treatable with antibiotics. It would be a severe issue for the third world.

KIRKULES

I think Armadillos are natural carriers of the plague, so make sure you cook your roadkill well done.

FREMDFIRMA

I always found it amusing how no one ever really considered the impact of burning witches and wholesale killing of cats prior to the sudden rodent overpopulation which spread the plague so swift and thorough.

Then again, it does come to make one wonder if said plague was aided and abetted by either said witches, nature herself (Malthusian Theorem) or a combination of the two, because it's very destructive virulence is all out of proportion even for the era it occured in.

I do know the average lifespan of a rodent spotted by Kallista, or the ex's cats, is less than four minutes, and they bring em to us for disposal since (apparently) mice taste terrible, and they're likely to get something quite tasty in exchange for said corpsified rodent.

Puppy is a quick, efficient killer, which is downright merciful in comparison to Kallista, who is *EXTREMELY* aggressive, but declawed and not too damn technical about how she gets it done.

Just ponder that Kallistas primary cat-to-cat combat tactic is death from above, followed by pinning the other cats head down with one paw, and slamming it with the other like a croquet ball hard enough to make this quite audible *thump-thump-thump* noise and leaving the other cat wandering dazed like they just had a close encounter with george foreman in the ring.

I've seen her literally sail a mouse 12 feet or more, poor blighters...
