GAO reports 190,000 missing assault rifles & pistols given to Iraqis.

Gee...what a nice, swell little news story...I first heard this yesterday morning and thought it had to be a joke. But apparenly it's not a joke, and I really am at a loss on this one.

Our military gives out 100's of thousands of weapons, to "train the Iraqi Army" I suppose, and now half are missing?....what, no deposits left? I wonder if the 190,000 rifles are sitting next to the WMD's somewhere near Ali Baba's magic cave or something..this is really beyond the pale...too much!

Do the math : 190,000 weapons stolen at approx. $750 each equals about $143 million dollars...equals 2.2 million barrels of oil Iraq owes us....that is more than enough to cover the enormous personal energy consumption of the uber-hypocritical pseudo-green bullshitters like RFK Jr, Gore (the dope, not the convicted pot-head son), and Edwards. Heck...might even have some spare change leftover for enough $400 haircuts to carry Edwards through the Iowa Caucuses.

But cerealously, how can anyone, I mean anyone, take these Generals at the Pentagon cerealously about anything they say about the war, or testify to Congress about when they've obviously grossly mis-handled something so simple as some basic arms accountability? General Pace, General Petraeous, Generals Peter, Paul & Mary...shame on you!

It's just a guess but I don't think Generals have much to do with guarding weapons. It's just gotta be our wonderful Shiite allies who made off with them and sold them for a trip to the French Riviera, or wherever Shiite go for fun. Of course it would be a disaster for the US troops to admit that...so they say.....whu-buh-who weapons?

If you're not on Malbadinlatin's side, you're with the terrorists.

If you want to fight Americans... either in Iraq or Afghanistan.... how better than to have the Americans give you training, weapons and equipment... then one night walk away and come back shooting.

You talk about having local allies ? lol

maybe the ones on the payroll, beyond that I really don't think so.

I seem to recall stating this would happen, and being rather vociferously flamed for it.

$700 ? USD ? man they got robbed, I can get Norinco (MAK-90) AK-47 variants for like $350, and it'd be even less if the bastards at the BATFEces didn't ban further imports of em.

Anyhows, if you really wanna mess up local insurgencies, hand out AR15/M-16s next time instead - you'll notice that no other armed force on the planet is stupid enough to use em, and enemy troops don't even take em when they clean up after ambushes, that oughta tell you all you need to know.

The British longarm tho, I hear is even *worse*, although I'm not sure that's even possible.

Seriously tho, just one more idiocy on the pile while the high chimperator struggles to try and get the banana out of the monkeytrap jar that is Iraq.

Ook, Ook, Eek, Ack.

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it

Sorry, I just guestimated the $750 per weapon, and if they are cheaper...then it's still a lot of American taxpayer money down the drain. What ever happenned to so-called "smart weapons" that have some kind of tracking chip in them?....wouldn't it be grand if we could simply press a button and have all these "missing" weapons explode?...I think we'd find a lot of terrorist/insurgent strongholds that way...but of course we don't do that...we don't even provide our troops the safety and protection of gps transmitters (ala lojack) to help locate them if they are kidnapped. I guess that wouldn't work either, because the NY Times would simply tap into their left-over, dis-gruntled Clintinista traitor pool at the NSA and CIA and publish the radio frequencies along with instructions to the enemy on how to disable them...part of their demented manifesto of outing all our military secrets in their zeal to see America defeated and humiliated.
