Folks are lookin in the wrong direction, as always.

At MOST, worst case scenario, an illegal will take 2-3 american jobs, which return to the job pool when he quits or moves on.

One stoke of a CEO's pen can take a thousand american jobs, give them to some other country, and they're gone FOREVER.*

I'm all for makin our southern border secure, which is why I respect what the minutemen are doin even if I think they're little nuts, and some of em quite racist... but you've struck on one part of the issue that needed to be done, busting companies that hire them.

Problem is, they probably saved eight million on labor, so fining them five is the usual slap-on-wrist 'reward' for unethical business practice.

All fines of this nature should be calculated at TRIPLE the profit made from the unethical act, otherwise yer just rewarding it, which is why companies like Enron and Tyco laugh all the way to the bank while they pay the fine out of a pittance of the proceeds.

Real border security is definately something we need to work on, but when it comes to the employment aspect ?

Look to the ivory towers, not the border, and there you will find where the problem lies.

*PS - Suggested recourse ?
If you don't have at least an 80% american workforce - you ain't an american company, no tax breaks, no subsidies, and import duties/tariffs as appropriate, this means YOU, Billy Ford.

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it
