Sorry if it disturbs anyone but my wife just call a few minutes ago and told me that a young man that my older son knows and who went to school nearby was killed in Iraq yesterday.

I feel sick and depressed.

VALERIEBEAN

Hi Z,
I don't know you, but I thought I'd just send you an e-hug and let you know that my heart goes out to you, your family, and the family of that young man who died. I don't really have any words of comfort, but my mind keeps playing a song:

"What did he die for? He died for freedom. He died for love. And all the things we do to pay him back could never be enough."

My prayer is that you will truly embody love to your neighbors as you face this situation.

Alove,
valeriebean

RUE

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

I've been avoiding replying b/c nothing I can say can make it right. Just know that everyone there has my sincere sympathy.

Thank you for the nice words and prayers VALERIEBAN and RUE. His name was Ryan Berg from Sabine Pass,Texas. 19 years old. It was on the news last night. I had never met the young man but my son said he knew him and that he had been to our house. He had come home for the Holidays just before returning. I feel heart broken for his family. My prayers are with them today.

SIRI

Hi Z,
My thoughts and prayers are with you, too. Not much to say other than that. I had a step-son who did 2 tours in Iraq with the Marines. Haven't lost anyone I know but we have lost young people from this town, too, and I so ache for those families when I see or hear it on the news.

TRISTAN

Zetta, all I can add is my thoughts and sorrow are with his parents. I am glad that he did have the chance to spend the holidays with his parents, though.

SIRI,CHRISISALL,TRISTAN, thank you my friends. His is a small community so it really hit hard.

I realize wars must be fought though everyone knows they are terrible and can not be avoided sometime. But it does have me remembering a line from Malcolm Reynolds " There's got to be a better way."

Lets hope we find it soon.

FINN MAC CUMHAL

In the mean time, my prayers go to your friend’s family.

Nothing is more unpredictable than the mob, nothing more obscure than public opinion, nothing more deceptive than the whole political system.
