Oh... It's going to lose a lot more than that.

Everybody except for Hollywood knows why this happened and doesn't need to read an article about it.

I'm hearing I'm not the only one now thinking that this one might only make $125 Million in total now, although I don't see anybody else using the Blue Beetle comparison, which is the only reason I was using such a low figure.

I still think that's a long shot, but if the word of mouth is really bad, it could happen.

Warner Bros. / DC Studios' Supergirl grossed an estimated $3.60M on Friday (from 3,602 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $52.47M.

Wow. "Young Washington" beat the snot out of it. YW even beat Toy Story 5 on Saturday.

It's looking less and less likely that Supergirl will gross less than Blue Beetle, but at this point who really cares? We're even hearing things out of James Gunn that sound like nobody believes James Gunn has any future with DC after this one.

Nearly a 75% drop from the abysmal opening weekend to Weekend 2.

If the foreign number currently is accurate at $42 Million, it still could gross BB territory. And I do think that it is accurate, since I'd heard it made something like $34.5 Million internationally up through Thursday, which would mean it got another $7.5 Million international this weekend, which would be in line with what is expected so far.

It just crossed $100 Million today. It needs about $29.5 Million to beat Blue Beetle.

It has flopped, as I've already detailed here and will be very evident to everyone soon.

Nolan's remake is the winner?

Nope.

I am now forced to do the responsible thing and fess up to where I messed up, because until the weekend numbers come in, I've got no idea what is going on anymore.

I was recently informed by a Thursday version of Google AI that Tuesday's version of Google AI is full of shit and was "hallucinating". It then went into pretty great detail about how it would have came to the erroneous conclusion that it was only expected by the industry to gross in the area of $50 Million on Weekend 2. Because I remembered which sources it was citing and let them know that information along with telling it that it told me only $50 Million a few days ago, it was able to give me a perfectly reasonable explanation of how it would have drawn that incorrect conclusion.

These details are boring and I won't bother putting them here

I'm just disappointed in the experience and getting quite annoyed at how frequently it seems that this AI is just plain fucking wrong so often that it makes you question if anything it's ever said to you or that it will say to you in the future is correct...

Could be. Flip a coin. I don't fuckin' know.

Suffice it to say, the industry does, and at least since Tuesday has expected that The Odyssey will gross between $61 and $84 Million on Weekend two.

$61 Million alone isn't going to change much of what I've said already. We would have to see what's happening by the 3rd weekend to get a much clearer picture.

$84 Million is a different story.

I think with $84 Million, $625 Million is more than likely.

Some are saying this movie needs $700 Million actually to break even, but I have not yet seen anything in the winds that makes me raise the RoT multiplier beyond 2.5x. I'm not actively searching for things like this, mind, but I have no doubt if they are out there they would be unearthed for this movie eventually without me having to bother.

Until somebody convinces me otherwise, this movie only needs $625 Million to break even. It does me no good to myself or anybody else to just go with the higher number I heard because I like that number. That's what Democrat voters do to make themselves feel better about themselves all the time. My temporary dopamine high from yelling "Take that! Now you need to make $700 Million!" is meaningless.

The people who had dogs in the race know exactly what they needed on return for them to consider this a win. And they will take that knowledge they learned here and apply that the next time a Producer comes around and they may not be so free to part with their alms. And I would bet that number varies Greatly from person to person and entity from entity. Make fun of "Producer Credits" given as gifts to prima dona actors all you want, but a real Producer is a God among men. They're the ones who go around and get everyone to cough up the dough.

And I think for a very long time, they might not really have been needed. What, with all that free Venture Capital that was floating around everywhere after Obama put us on virtually 0% interest and then we just didn't fucking raise it back up for forever...

Think of all of the crap and fucking trash that has been made in the last 10 years. Does anybody believe for a minute that half of that shit would have been made if people had to call up friends and call in all their favors to get a movie or a TV show the funding it needed to even get a chance at the starting line?

Honestly... I think that's why Harvey Weinstein really went down. Because Obama dropped the interest to 0% and we just had no interest in bringing it back up from there. Nobody needed that fat, ugly sack of shit who was always fornicating with the world's most beautiful and highly paid prostitutes the world has ever known anymore.

What Ted Bundy Clone doesn't understand, as he comes in here and dive bombs a dumb ass click bait video by three retarded white guys for a sweet shot of cheap dopamine, is that $700 Million gross worldwide on a movie that needed $625 Million to break even... especially one THIS politically charged, is not a safe or wise investment strategy.

It's gambling.

This movie needs to do a LOT more than just eek out a win.

Or don't expect many more like it going forward.

Not when they can make a dumbass, non-woke, entirely apolitical movie like Top Gun 2 and gross nearly $1.5 Billion. And they only needed to make $488 Million to break even on that one. Whoever invested in that movie got to share a pool of profits right around One Billion before Uncle Sam pinned them all down and sodomized them.

This is either a MASSIVE troll by Christopher Nolan on everyone as I've suspected since the beginning, or it was The Last Stand for this type of behavior in Hollywood.

And you've lost.

They won't continue risking this kind of money for fuckin' peanuts after shitting their Depends every day over it for 6 months straight.

How many people invested in this movie and how much? If it grosses $700 Million, they're splitting $75 Million and then Uncle Sam is going to take a big fucking wet bite out of whatever that split is.

But if it grossed what Oppenheimer did? And extra $250+ Million to the pot?

Now that might be worth shitting your pants for 6 months.

I don't know...

I don't gamble.

It's not my particular vice.
