I can't believe with all the clickbait and bullshit you two have in your regular daily diet that you missed this story today... You're slipping.

Don't worry about it though. Just like I've always said, Democrats have an uncanny ability to win nearly every special race that is ever held, all across the country. I'm not exactly sure how they do it, but the Republicans should figure that out and either follow their lead if what they are doing is on the up and up, or fix the system if it's broken and underhanded illegal actions behind the scenes are what leads to this phenomena.

That seat and the Republican super majority will flip right back to Republican the instant they have their next real election.

Meanwhile, the House Republicans in Iowa are now learning a lesson as they temporarily lose that super-majority status that they took for granted.

They won't be likely to do again for a long time in Iowa.

When people don’t vote, Democrats win
Everyone needs to learn the new politics of turnout

Back on August 5, there were two special elections for state legislative seats.

Democrats won them both. In Delaware’s House District 20, the Democratic candidate narrowly won a seat that Kamala Harris carried by a 54-45 margin — a poor showing for Democrats, even though they won the seat. The other race was in Senate District 4 in Rhode Island, a 55-44 Harris district. And here, Democrats won by a whopping 83-16 in a massive overperformance.

We can’t learn much from any one special election race, since there are dozens of idiosyncratic factors at work. But special elections in the aggregate do convey some information about the national political climate.

So far in 2025, Democratic candidates in special elections are running 15.5 points ahead of Kamala Harris and 11.1 points ahead of Joe Biden’s (much stronger on average) baseline from 2020.

This is telling us that the national political climate not only favors Democrats, as you would expect for the out-party under an unpopular president, but massively favors them. Slow Boring readers know I’ve been dooming about the upcoming Senate races, but if Dems can actually run nearly 16 points ahead of Harris, then Ohio, Texas, Iowa, Florida, Alaska, and potentially even Kansas are all on the map. And that’s exactly what the party needs to meaningfully contest for a Senate majority, check the MAGA-fication of the federal judiciary, and actually make policy change in 2028.

So is everything fine? Am I totally wrong about the need for ideological adjustments?

This isn't new. This has always been the case.

It's why I laugh when Ted posts an article or video of a Democrat winning a special election like it means something. Democrats win every special election no matter how deep red the state and local government is.

I'm sure it's because all the teachers in school hand out the fliers to the kids and get at least some of their parents to vote for something.

It's like when they lied to the parents here about increasing property taxes "by only $20 per year" right before the house of prices skyrocket under Joe Biden*'s terrible leadership and we all got hammered with a second huge increase. And it turned out that "$20 per year" referendum actually amounted to 1,500% more than they lied to the parents it would be. They put this on an off-year PRIMARY election because they knew it wouldn't fucking fly if they tried it during a Presidential GENERAL.

We need to ban any referendums from being voted on in any election other than Presidential General elections going forward so Democrats can't keep pulling this shit on The People.

Not sure if you seriously don't know.

They won by 800 votes. They sent in 30,000 volunteers, which I am sure none were tempted to vote. You've seen GA election of Warnock - Libtards from CA and across the nation flew in to vote for him in GA.

Special Elections they can focus their efforts on. $260,000 to $180,000 spending, which the Libtards call "17%" margin.

Did you notice she is another pink-haired Libtard? GOP ran ads with her pinko days hair. She also agrees with you, do not fund schools which teach and function, only fund Failed Public Schools.
It was noted she was the only IA Senate candidate to translate her ads to Spanish, because her voters cannot speak English.

Not sure he was a great candidate, the company he founded is in South Dakota - across the river.

I'm glad that you've got it figured out. Now maybe you can get in touch with some Republicans and tell them why they lose every special election under the sun.

This literally happens every single time, no matter where or when.

And losing stupid ones like this is a real bummer. There's a very good chance that Democrats never win the house or Senate again, and that I may not even live long enough to see another Democratic President. There is zero reason why any Republican outside of DEEP Blue cities should be losing anything right now, special election or not.

There's no excuse for this, and I don't care how many people they flew in from CA to canvas neighborhoods. The Republicans are sitting on a freakin' boatload of campaign cash to use on things like this when the Democrats are tapped out. And if they didn't see this coming and that's why they weren't prepared for it, maybe they need to hire somebody like me who will prevent this shit from happening in the future. A waste of money for them though, I'd say, since nobody needed a crystal fucking ball to predict this would happen.

My biggest surprise on this one is that I almost missed that it even happened.

It was on a sidebar either on RCP or one of the articles I was reading yesterday and I didn't even see it until very late at night. Neither of the two mindless goobers here posted it all day? That would lead me to believe that they weren't aware of it either, since they are both completely desperate for any good news out of their dead party.

That's the most interesting part of this to me. Why wasn't this Special Election win for Democrats plastered all over the news 24/7 for 3 days in a row? Even a day later I still haven't seen anything else about it, and I go far out of my way to expose myself to Lefty news and talking points on the daily.

It couldn't be because they know it's a meaningless win. Even if they did know that, that wouldn't normally stop them from putting out headlines and clickbait videos for days just to get their stupid voters excited about something... anything.
