Art, music and writing are living things and as such they evolve over time.

Prehistoric man beating on a tree stump to pounding on a hollow log and finding out they could make different sounds depending where they hit. To making wooden flutes and rattles that could entertain a child or be used in a ceremony for whatever. To making actual drums. In Renaissance times and with the working of metals, you had metal flutes and rattles that could make complex notes that made music. Organs for churches and then harpsicords the forerunner of the modern day piano, to the beginnings of stringed instruments and wood winds that made even more complex music.

Writing as well from Roman and Greeks philosophers like Socrates and Plato to Homer's Iliad. Egyptian books written on papyrus in hieroglyphics. Books about things that don't exist so your own imagination can take flight for pure enjoyment.
