But still millions of miles away from Earth's orbit.

More than a mile long.

I hope they did the math correct

One that wiped out all Dinosaurs and dramatically changed all of Earth was maybe 6 miles or 10 kilometers wide, worry about the ones fly closer,
a Laser traveling at Speed of Light can go to the Moon and back in a little over 2 seconds, Average distance from the Earth to the Moon is about 1.3 Light second, some Asteroids come inside the orbit of Lunar, the Moon is 239 K miles away or 384,000 Km
