U.S. Elections tainted by outside influences via cash with no accountability

It's a much bigger problem than people from out of state donating to politicians in other states.

Federal law is being violated with individuals who aren't American citizens giving money to campaign and misinformation funds. Half the time we don't even have any record of where these huge sums of money even come from.

I'm surprised that Politico is reporting on this, since it's an article strictly about Democrats benefiting from it.

That being said, I'm sure it wouldn't take much digging to verify that Republicans benefit from this as well.

Just as I've been saying about how we need to outlaw the practice of allowing anyone from out of state to donate to any campaigns outside of the state they live in, we need to outlaw financial influences on American elections from outside of the country.

But how do when do that when we can't even get Congress to stop making insider trades on war?

I assume it's just the tip of the tip of iceberg, for all parties. So easy to register a fuzzy name ("Americans for Something!") get a website and a free shopping cart and boom, you're raising campaign money. "Here Dan, something for your kid's birthday... I know he likes donkeys. So many trillions floating around.

Yanno... Sometimes man, I see a post like this from you and I think it's a real shame that we see eye to eye on so little.

Maybe we don't. Maybe it only seems that way since all that is ever discussed in here is whatever hate-of-the-day is going on that they want us to argue about and lines were already drawn in the sand years ago.

I'll tell you what though... As much as I hate modern day Democrats, I have to struggle to remind myself constantly that my hate for Republicans runs just as deep and for a lot longer. It is hard to remember that some days because of how bad the Democratic Party has gotten in the last 10-15 years though.

While I appreciate the humor, because that is exactly the post that Ted would reply here if he didn't (thankfully) get so good at not replying to me.

But I wouldn't advise taking the US vs THEM stance on this one. I don't even have to look at the FEC receipts website to know that Republicans are just as guilty of accepting this dark money as Democrats are.

And no. It doesn't matter who is taking more. This isn't a dick measuring contest. Accepting $1 of illegal, out of the country campaign contributions and turning a blind eye to it is just as bad as taking a Billion USD is, because of the implications it has for the future.
