Yes, LOL indeed:

President Donald Trump’s sudden demand for $2,000 checks for most Americans was swiftly rejected by House Republicans on Thursday as his haphazard actions throw a massive COVID relief and government funding bill into chaos.

The rare Christmas Eve session of the House lasted just minutes, with help for millions of Americans awaiting Trump’s signature on the bill. Unemployment benefits, eviction protections and other emergency aid, including smaller $600 checks, are at risk. Trump’s refusal of the $900 billion package, which is linked to $1.4 trillion government funds bill, could spark a federal shutdown at midnight Monday.

Trump is ending his presidency much the way he started it — sowing confusion and reversing promises all while courting a federal shutdown over demands his own party in Congress will not meet.

The congressional Republican leaders have been left almost speechless by Trump’s year-end scorching of their work. The year-end package Trump railed against as a “disgrace” is the product of months of work. The final text of the more than 5,000-page bill required days to be compiled but on Thursday it was completed and sent to the White House for Trump’s signature.

The Senate cleared the huge relief package Monday by a 92-6 vote after the House approved it by 359-53. Those votes totals would be enough to override a veto should Trump decide to take that step.

“The best way out of this is for the president to sign the bill,” Republican Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri said Thursday. “And I still hope that’s what he decides.”

The president’s push to increase direct payments for most Americans from $600 to $2,000 for individuals splits the GOP with a politically difficult test of their loyalty to the president.

On a conference call Wednesday House Republican lawmakers complained that Trump threw them under the bus, according to one Republican on the private call and granted anonymity to discuss it. Most had voted for the package and they urged GOP leaders to hit the cable news shows to explain its benefits, the person said.

Even if the House is able to approve Trump’s $2,000 checks Monday, that measure would likely die in the GOP-controlled Senate, which is due back in session Tuesday.

The president’s unpredictable demands are creating more Trump-related headaches for Georgia GOP Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, who are fighting for their political lives — and for continued GOP control of the Senate — in a pair of Jan. 5 Georgia run-off elections. They are being forced to choose whether to back or buck Trump, potentially angering voters on all sides.

He is a spiteful, hateful pos. In his mind he probably thinks: "why would I help all these poor losers fks who didn't vote for me??" No way the $2k is a genuine offer.

I have no idea if he really wants another term, other than him not getting something makes him cry like a 2 year old. Plus, he's making more money now on the way out the door from his idiot base. Speculation is he'll start a cable channel and punk his 20,000,000 dumb af base for $5 a month for "premium access" for another $100,000,000 a month. He'll be able to hold his head high next time he sees Putin. He's finally found a way to marry what he's always been good at - being a grifter - with being president. He's making more being a loser than he ever did by stealing - er, winning - the election the first time. Just in time for xmas!

BUT... supposing he really does mean what he says, "I'm president!" There's always the next grift for a conman, so my thinking is this monkey wrench is a way to get Mitch to come to the oval office and make a deal. "Mitch, I'll shoot down the Dems and sign the bill as-is, IF you get enough senators to sign onto my latest coup attempt in the senate. Deal?"

Once again, while Congress did nothing when unemployment benefits ran out in August, Trump was the one who put an additional $1,800 in the pockets of nearly every unemployed citizen by diverting FEMA funds. He's always been saying that there should be more than Republicans were saying there should be since day one.

Democrats agreed too, at least until Biden* won* the election.

Then they passed a bill that was worse than the ones the Republicans would have agreed to pass before Trump got elected and called it a victory.

Even DNC collusion hack Wolf Blitzer gave Nancy the shit for it leading up to the election.

And then Keith Olbermann came out of his years long dog-rescuing stupor to tweet that Wolf Blitzer owes Nancy Pelosi an apology.

Yeah. I guess he should be sorry that for once in his life he did his goddamned job.

Also...

Trump's LWA order was for $400 per week, with the state kicking in $100 of that. Kentucky, Montana and West Virginia were the only three states who kicked in that extra $100. All three of which, BTW, are solidly red states.

Trump is addicted to the high he gets from conflict. There is no thrill for him in straightforward signing the bill. Instead, he goes for the maximum conflict by making everybody stop what they are doing and wait for him to decide if he will or won't sign the bill. He won't even tell reporters if he will be in Florida or in Washington DC for Inauguration. He is trying to achieve the maximum drama/conflict and personal pleasure from mundane decisions. When things are going wrong, spiralling into chaos, Trump feels most ALIVE, the hero who will save the day. That is not how CEOs are suppose to run a business, but that's how Trump has always done it.

I think Trump deliberately screws thing up and takes ridiculous gambles because it is exciting and he doesn't get hurt:

"Over the course of a lifetime of professional and personal transgressions and failures, channeling lasting, curdled lessons of Norman Vincent Peale and Roy Cohn, Trump has assembled a record of rather remarkable resilience. His typical level of activity and almost animal energy has at times lent him an air of insusceptibility, every one of his brushes with financial or reputational ruin ending with Trump emerging all but untouched."

Trump should run in both major party primaries. That way, when he wins both, there is no way he can't win the general election.

Pretty sure that would be illegal.

Although if Trump were running as a Democrat he'd be able to learn all the secrets that Democrats use to steal elections... so maybe it can be done?

I see you still haven't addressed the fact that the only single person in America to have given any financial relief to unemployed workers since they expired at the end of July was one Donald J. Trump.

Imagine that.

Trump will cost jobless workers a week of $300 federal unemployment benefits if he doesn't sign the relief bill by the end of today, Saturday.

If Trump doesn't sign the federal rescue package by the end of Saturday, it would effectively cut a week of $300 federal unemployment benefits for jobless people, according to Michele Evermore, a policy expert at the National Employment Law Project. Unemployment benefits were supposed to restart December 26. Experts like Evermore say a two-to-three week gap in unemployment benefits is inevitable since states need time to recalibrate their computer systems to send the payments.

States can't provide benefits for weeks before the relief legislation is actually approved. Depending when it's signed, that could put labor agencies on track to restart the payouts during the first week of January. The $300 federal supplement would still end on March 14.

False.

As it's written, it's all retroactive. Not to summertime through the end of the year when there weren't any benefits except for the $1,800 that Trump put in unemployed people's pockets, but to the date this new bill starts. Payouts will likely be held up a week, but unless the entire bill implodes and never gets passed, nobody is costing anybody $300.

I'd suggest maybe we stop allowing politicians to bundle shit together, which is a suggestion I've been making in the RWED since I first created an account.

If the Democrats want to give $10 Million to Pakistan for "Gender Issues", they can put that single bill on the floor and vote on it, and then be held accountable by their constituents when their name is on a bill pissing taxpayer dollars away for a Pakistani "Gender Issue" agenda when people here are worried about where their next meal is coming from. No more of this 5,593 page bill bullshit.

And then right now since the unemployment extension and additional payments are not being disputed, if they were their own separate passed bill they wouldn't be hung up when Trump is trying to up the stimulus checks to $2,000 from $600.

Only the absolute dumbest people are going to fall for this line of bullshit, Second.

So what? It's retroactive to the 25th of December no matter when it actually gets passed (as long as it gets passed). The 13 weeks will be paid out to anybody who was unemployed during that time, even if the bill ends up being held up a month or more. It will all be retroactive. Filers who qualify for the weeks will be asked to file back vouchers for those weeks as soon as it's passed and the state starts paying it out.

So you haven't disproved shit.

Unless you found the words "retroactive to the 25th" in the actual bill, rather than in your imagination, you have only bad reasons to believe what you are writing. Are you trying to convince yourself that Trump can delay all he wants and there will be no consequences in total payments to each unemployed? Because that sure looks like what you are doing. The bill clearly says that if it is signed on April 5th, or later, there will be no money.

The only difference between now and the summer is that this specific verbiage was amended to show the additional payments with different amounts between the $600 in the original CARES act and the $300 in the new bill and the beginning and ending dates for weeks that will fall in between these two periods.

This means that aside from the difference in the per-week additional amount being paid out, it will work EXACTLY the same way as it did in the summer when some people had to wait 8 to 10 weeks before they were cleared for payment, at which time they had it all RETROACTIVELY deposited for all of the weeks they were unemployed once the systems were updated by the state to allow filing for multiple back weeks that they were unemployed between the start and end dates specified in the bill.

So yes. Once again, I'm correct and you don't have any idea what the fuck you're talking about.

I suggest you go write a shitty letter to CNN now and let them know that you're embarrassed for sounding like an asshole because you read and quote their fictional stories that aren't vetted before cashing in on ad revenue.

“(ii) For weeks of unemployment beginning after December 26, 2020 (or, if later, the date on which such agreement is entered into), and ending on or before March 14, 2021, $300.”

We are arguing about what is the meaning of the words "the date on which such agreement is entered into". I think it means the date Trump signs the bill.

The weeks are counted starting when the bill is signed, not started from Dec 26th. If Trump signed on March 14th, and you had been unemployed since November, you get zero weeks times $300 = $0.

That's what you think, but it's not what it means.

The "agreement" is referencing when (and if) the individual states agree to receive the additional funding. Like anything else, there's strings attached with free money. But it is highly unlikely that any states are going to turn it down and see their politicians get voted out of office for it.

This bill, just like the CARES act, does not guaranty the money to individuals for unemployment directly. That has to go through each individual state legislature before it becomes part of their UI payouts, and they don't have to agree to the full amount of weeks to cover it either.

Unless you're able to provide any evidence to the contrary, it should be assumed that the terms for the "agreement" with the states and the Federal government are to be retroactive to the dates provided in the bill just as they will be with individual filers after the "agreement" is made and the back dated vouchers become available online for the individuals, no matter when this bill is officially passed.

I think you'll have a hard time finding a single self-referential instance in history where one line in one section of a 5,593 page bill calls the entire bill an "agreement" within the bill itself, such as you propose is the case here.

Good luck trying though.

Interesting...

It seems that the disinformation about the verbiage of the bill and the claim that everyone is going to lose one week of unemployment can be traced back to one Alan Rappeport at NYT.

https://web.archive.org/web/20201226152740/https://www.nytimes.com/202

Quote:

Further delays could prove more costly. States cannot pay out benefits for weeks that begin before the bill is signed, meaning that if the president does not sign the bill by Saturday, benefits will not restart until the first week of January. But they will still end in mid-March, effectively trimming the extension to 10 weeks from 11.

He provides zero evidence for this claim, and nothing in the bill itself backs this up. He just makes the claim with confidence, and other outlets like CNN and Forbes have since run with this claim and nobody seems to have done any fact checking.

Not one single politician, judge or lawyer has weighed in on this subject. Just the asshole press and their ignorance spreading it around while the politicians are all on their 15th break for the year.

My real question here is, if there was any truth at all to this story that the media is running with then where the hell is congress?

It would appear that 12 Million American people losing an additional $300 wasn't worth them missing out on their family Christmas party during the same year that they terrified and shamed millions more Americans not to celebrate the holidays with the people that they love.

Either that, or the story is pure fiction.

I'm sticking with number two, but either way just shows off how broken our country is.

President Donald Trump did not sign the latest coronavirus relief legislation before midnight on Saturday, costing jobless workers one week of $300 federal unemployment benefits.

State agencies can only distribute benefits for weeks the bill is enacted, meaning the delay could cause the unemployment benefits to be distributed for 10 weeks instead of the intended 11.

About 14 million Americans have also lost unemployment benefits, as two federal programs expired on Saturday.

If Trump can get Congress to rewrite the bill using $2,000 where it now says $600, then it will be trivial for Trump to also get the bill rewritten to match 6ixStringJack's interpretation of how many weeks of $300 unemployment compensation.

Not one single person who is qualified to speak on the issue has said that anybody will end up losing $300. Only "journalists" from left wing news sources have said it.

It doesn't need to be changed to match my interpretation of the bill. My interpretation is already correct.

But sure... Even a massive 5,593 page document can be altered in M$ Word or a free equivalent with about 3 minutes free time to dumb down the legalese so a moron like you can read it.

The tricky part is not the work of altering the document to please yourself, 6ix. What is tricky is tricking this location to substitute your altered document, the imaginary one in your head, for the original. https://rules.house.gov/sites/democrats.rules.house.gov/files/BILLS-11

The person you really and truly need to trick into believing your interpretation of who gets how many weeks of $300, 6ix, is whoever the Treasurer is when some version of this document is signed by either Trump or Biden. Good luck with that, 6ix! The Treasurer won't be easy for you to trick, plus there will be lawyers and accountants looking over the document. You won't be able to trick them, either, 6ix.

If Trump does not sign the relief bill by the end of day Saturday, it will effectively cut the extra $300 weekly federal unemployment benefit from 11 weeks to 10 weeks at most.

Here’s why.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/shaharziv/2020/12/26/if-trump-doesnt-sign
-new-stimulus-bill-today-extra-300-in-unemployment-will-not-start-until-at-least-january-and-will-be-cut-from-11-weeks/?sh=718a64382623

Congress could have put in a provision that made the $300 weekly payments retroactive to December 26, but ultimately did not. While the second version of the Heroes Act that the House had passed “would have allowed for retroactive payments,” Evermore told me, it did not make it into the final version of the bill that was passed by the House and Senate. Therefore, if Trump delays, there won’t be $300 payments retroactive to before the bill was signed, unless separate legislation is passed.

One might imagine that Congress did not anticipate the President to derail the bill and, therefore, saw no need to put in a retroactive clause; however, given Trump’s latest comments, omitting that clause may have a material impact on millions of Americans. “Donald Trump’s temper tantrum is threatening to cost millions of jobless workers a week’s worth of income,” said Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon). “The ability of millions of Americans to pay rent and buy groceries hangs in the balance, and Donald Trump spent the day golfing. It’s shameful.”

With the current language in the stimulus bill, Trump is effectively cutting stimulus aid for unemployed individuals by at least $300 if he doesn’t sign today, assuming he eventually does sign.

I guaranty you, absolutely 100% fact, that this will not go down as you say it will.

Even if I were wrong in my interpretation, anybody who didn't approve making it retroactive would be shooting themselves in the foot and likely be ending their own political career.

Trump hasn't cut any unemployment benefits here. There is a zero probability that this will happen either way.

Besides... your dumb ass still thinks that the "agreement" means when Trump decides to sign the document.

Stop playing games, Fatso, and sign it: Trump signs coronavirus relief and government funding bill into law after lengthy delay

However, because Trump did not sign the bill on Saturday, those in the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation programs will likely not receive a payment for the final week of the year. And the $300 federal enhancement may only last 10 weeks instead of 11 weeks for most folks. That's because states can't provide benefits for weeks that start before programs are authorized, but the legislation calls for the extra payments to end on March 14.

6ix, Trump voters get carried away with making excuses for Fatso. He wanted to make Covid-19 relief all about himself. That's why his demands for $2,000 were known after it was too late. That's why he wouldn't give a straight answer about whether he vetoes the bill or not. That's why he delayed signing. It was going to be next year before they got it regardless. It took states 6 to 10 weeks before they started paying out the $600. It took 2 to 6 weeks before they paid out the $300 LWA.

You've got a problem with one week now, but you didn't seem to have any problem with Congress letting the expanded benefits expire on July 29th and then doing nothing about it for FIVE MONTHS.

The only person in the country who did anything for the unemployed during that time was Trump. Both the House and the Senate have been on 4 spring breaks during that time.

It must be nice to work half the business days in any calendar year and make that salary with the best healthcare taxpayer dollars can buy in retirement. Even nicer if you can build your net worth to $200,000,000 like Nancy did and you can stock up your $24,000 refrigerator with Dove Bars when the plandemic hits.

You're a fool if you don't recognize that Mitch McConnell rushed to save his Senators, but left Trump Twisting in the Wind just before the election.

McConnell is trying to protect Sens. Loeffler and Perdue after he’s gotten nearly everything he could out of Trump.

There was one major thing that would go a long way to delivering four more years for Trump, and that was a round of Covid-19 relief in the weeks before the election, complete with checks destined for voters. Given that a swing of fewer than 100,000 votes in the right states would have flipped the election to Trump, it’s fair to say that such a stimulus could indeed have turned the tide for Trump.

Yet McConnell stood in the way. We now know with certainty that the Senate majority leader is well aware of the political value of stimulus checks. So McConnell bent to political reality, finally doing what he hadn’t done for Trump. It was a price he was willing to pay for two Georgian Senators in a run off election to keep control of the Senate. Why wouldn’t he pay the same price to keep control of the White House? The option was available to him. Even if Democratic leaders would have preferred to pass the stimulus after the election, their obstruction beforehand would either have been politically untenable or, if held firm, politically suicidal.

So McConnell had the option to press the button, and he knew the button would help Trump, yet he didn’t press it. The only reasonable conclusion that can be drawn is that McConnell did not want to help Trump win.

The calculation looks more and more reasonable the further it’s interrogated, and Trump’s chaotic response to passage of the latest Covid-19 stimulus is McConnell’s worst fear coming true.

From McConnell’s perspective, he has gotten nearly everything he could out of Trump: three Supreme Court justices, control of the federal judiciary, sweeping deregulation, and trillions in tax cuts. Yet for McConnell, dealing with Trump is also a daily humiliation, like being charged with babysitting a toddler who has been told by his parents that he’s the boss. What could Trump do for McConnell in a second term that would be worth the headache? And aside from the degradation, Trump represents a threat to McConnell’s vision of the Republican Party as a coalition led by billionaires and supported by the white working class. In Trump’s party, politicians like McConnell would not lead, but would be at the whim of the QAnon-inspired masses.

With Trump gone, McConnell becomes the most powerful Republican in the party again and, on some days, the most powerful politician in the country.

The future is also likely better for congressional Republicans under Biden than under Trump. Republicans are expecting to make gains in the House in 2022, enough to win control of the chamber. With Trump in the White House in 2022, Democrats would likely be more fired up to resist him, giving them a better chance of winning the Senate and holding the House. If Biden’s transition is any guide to his presidency, his insistence on working with Republicans and refusal to use executive action will make GOP pickups more likely, damage the Democratic brand, and pave the way for Republicans to win back unified control of Washington in 2024 — by which time there will be more judicial vacancies to fill, more regulations to undo, and more taxes to cut. And, if McConnell has his way, this time he’ll be able to do it all without having to smile next to Trump.

Weak and tired Republican “leadership” will allow the bad Defense Bill to pass. Say goodbye to VITAL Section 230 termination, your National Monuments, Forts (names!) and Treasures (inserted by Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren), 5G, and our great soldiers being removed and brought home from foreign lands who do NOTHING for us. Congress has been trying to get Trump sign this since before Covid-19 Relief.

Trump is angry that Mitch tricked him into signing the Covid-19 Relief bill on Sunday. Trump would love to unsign what he signed, but it is too late, the Constitution doesn't allow that. Now he is even more angry that Mitch won't need his signature on Defense spending because the Senate will probably over-ride Trump's veto. Since Pres. Andrew Johnson pardoned every man in the Confederacy, but first and foremost those who paid him a bribe, nobody hanged for treason. Robert E. Lee did not immediately resign from the US Army to join the Confederacy. He gave it long and careful thought, understanding perfectly well that he was breaking all the oaths he had sworn to preserve the Constitution and protect the United States of America. Unlike many Southerners who expected a glorious war, Lee correctly predicted it as protracted and devastating. He privately opposed the new Confederate States of America in letters in early 1861, denouncing secession as "nothing but revolution" and an unconstitutional betrayal of the efforts of the Founding Fathers. Fort Lee is named for Robert E. Lee, the traitor that didn't hang, thanks to a sneaky President who gives pardons in exchange for bribes.

Only one person has ever been executed for treason against the federal government: William Bruce Mumford, who was convicted of treason and hanged in 1862 for tearing down a United States flag during the American Civil War. However, this was under martial law, not Article Three of the United States Constitution. Clearly, the US legal system has a problem enforcing the law punishing citizens for going to war against the US.

Watch McConnell block effort to quickly increase stimulus checks.

In the video, Bernie talks and talks then Mitch nullifies what Bernie said with two words: "I object." Game Over. Mitch Wins. Bernie & Trump & all the Democrats lose. They wanted $2,000 and they're never gonna get it so long as Mitch can say "I object" as Majority Party leader in the Senate. Mitch keeps winning until BOTH Georgia Senators lose runoff elections. That's the rules.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) blocked an effort to quickly pass a measure to increase direct stimulus payments from $600 to $2,000, though the legislation could be voted on at a later time or date if McConnell so chooses.

Quote:

Now, the U.S. Labor Department and several states have indicated that there should be no gap in those benefits. The Labor Department said that it “does not anticipate that eligible claimants will miss a week of benefits due to the timing of the law’s enactment” in a statement to CNBC.

So far Rhode Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, California, and Washington State have said there will be no gap week for their unemployment recipients. More states are expected to make the same confirmation. Those payments may still arrive late because of the time needed to update state systems, but late payments will include retroactive payments for prior weeks.

There weren't any changes, fuckwits.

Here we've got a Perfect example of how the Legacy Media propagates a lie. From following it back to the exact source of the initial lie, all the way to the LM who's already made their ad revenue using throwaway comments to kick the accountability can down the road...

Nobody will be held accountable, a week from now nobody will even remember any of this took place, and not a single lesson is going to be learned here by anyone who didn't already know it.

What have you done today to earn your place in this crowded world? :)

Do a google search for "Unemployment Congress" without the quotes.

That's right.

If you want the truth about this and aren't just looking for another lie to hate Trump for based off of old articles that are lies based off of an older article that was a lie (and zero retractions on any of these yet, BTW...), you have to manually click on the "Tools" button under the search, and change "Any Time" to "Past 24 Hours" if you want to see a current story on it.

Most people who look up the status of Unemployment after the bill is signed on Google are still going to walk away thinking that Trump just cost them at least $300 after reading fiction from days ago.

Convenient lapse in the judgement of Google A.I., don'tcha think?

6ix, you write too much and understand too little.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell introduced a bill Tuesday linking $2,000 stimulus checks to a repeal of Section 230 and the creation of a new commission to study election fraud, a move likely to doom the increased direct payments.

If Republicans actually disagreed with Mitch, they'd replace him as majority leader. McConnell is nothing more than a scapegoat shielding the party from wildly unpopular policies.

Thank you Mitch McConnell for making it explicitly clear that if Georgia votes in Democrats Ossoff and Warnock, we will all get $2,000 in 3 weeks, and if they do not then we will get nothing for the next six years.

Bullshit. I was absolutely right about everything.

Don't come in here and tell me I was wrong and then try to change the subject.

This is a thread about Unemployment. It has nothing to do with stimulus checks.

So you either tell me that I as right and acknowledge that your Legacy Media is full of shit, or you can go fuck off.

Will that be carved on your headstone? I've heard that from too many Republicans who are now dead because they weren't absolutely right when being a little wrong would kill them.

We were going to cut those $1,400 stimulus checks we used to buy votes in Georgia, but then we realized that quite a few of us would probably go to prison if we wrote those $1,400 stimulus checks we used to buy votes in Georgia.

LOOK OVER THERE! IMPEACHMENT!

lol

I'm not going anywhere, bruh.

Assuming that you actually lived during Nam, you're on your way out the door.

I can only imagine what the people that know you are going to put on your headstone when Covid gets you.
