I dont think its the worst nor the best, a lot of political spin going on for and against Trump. There are some promising looking drugs, only large clinical trials on patients will show if these drugs are working effictive or not.

He's funded US big pharama companiesto start making a cure, buying up the drugs made in India, in Europe in other places there are medicines in development, including antibiotics, as a prevention or cure for COVID-19. However, there are several ongoing clinical, there are antiviral studies and trials, many possible ways to try defeat the virus also potential vaccinations. The US has imposed travel restrictions on foreign nationals who have been to Brazil. Russia Approves 1st Coronavirus Vaccine Amid Race For Cure calling it Sputnik-V, some questioned Russia and said it would need longer safety trails, Russia called international concern over vaccine 'groundless'.

In a recent interview with HBO, US President Donald Trump said The United States is lowest in numerous categories. We’re lower than the world, we’re lower than Europe,” Trump said in response, referring to several charts. From Johns Hopkins University, when it comes to countries that have at least 100,000 cases of COVID-19, the U.S. has the sixth-highest number of COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people, ranking behind Chile, Italy, Spain, Peru and the Great Britain.

There seems to be some mis-info out there are rumors about the miracle cures, there was potential the Malaria vaccine might help, the old SARS-CoV-2 and some questions about HCQ in the media, science about hydroxychloroquine, Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are known to have side effects potentially cause heart rhythm problems, Hydroxychloroquine trial are reported restart in some nations. The WHO currently does not recommend self-medication with any medicines, including antibiotics, as a prevention or cure for COVID-19, Remdesivir an old Sars vaccine has already been used in some COVID-19 tests, another option seems to be Lopinavir or Ritonavir which block the Virus Protiens, Lopinavir/ritonavir combo has been tested in Mice and Lab Rats, another possible outcome is passive immunisation which you transfer blood from some one who has recovered – or transfusion – of potential protective antibodies, another part of Corona is it causes the body's system to get confused and attack itself, blocking parts of our own immune system that are likely overreacting to SARS-CoV-2 infection and contributing to the damage in the human body, a supressing drug might stop the body going into overdrive and eating itself. There are possibly 21+ Million cases of Corona Globally with over half of those Recovered. India's death toll from the novel coronavirus overtook France's on Friday with 30,601 fatalities and nearly 50,000 new cases. Of the 20 countries with the biggest outbreaks, the US reportedly ranks sixth in deaths per capita, which is 4.5 fatalities per 10,000 people.

Thanks for your post.

JH doesn't provide per capita figures afaik.

In terms of cases/1M according to WorldOMeter the countries ranking from highest down to the US are:
Qatar 40,986
French Guiana 28,667
Bahrain 27,182
San Marino 20,595
Chile 20,168
Panama 18,660
Kuwait 17,812
USA 16,734

followed by Oman, and Peru, to round out the top 10.

In terms of DEATHS/1M the US is number 10:
San Marino 1,237
Belgium 857
Peru 789
Andorra 686
Spain 612
UK 609
Italy 586
Sweden 572
Chile 546
USA 522

But since the US is supposed to be following Sweden's example, maybe we should hurry up and kill more people.

Almost anybody would have done a better job about COVID-19 than Trump.

Yanno, I give credit to Trump for the things he's done right.

But I definitely ding him on his overall SARS-CoV-2 response. The only person I imagine doing as badly as Trump - or maybe worse - on this, is Pence. Or you, because your notions are irrational and fact-free. But then, you're not in charge of anything so that doesn't count.

It's probably best to look at per capita figures.

If 0.0001 B people die (100,000) it tells a different story if it's in India population 1.38 B or in Iceland population 0.0003 B.

For per capita figures go here: http://91-divoc.com/pages/covid-visualization/

Current top 10 per capita ranking from high to low is:
San Marino
Peru
Belgium
Bolivia
Brazil
Spain
Andorra
Chile
US / Ecuador
UK

Note that San Marino's had 0 deaths for 4 months, and Belgium's had < 1death/M for 4 months. So they accumulated their per capita deaths very early in the pandemic, but have since brought it under control.

France had the continent’s first confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, but the French government failed for weeks to take decisive action to impose strict social distancing measures or promote large-scale testing. Germany, on the other hand, immediately began aggressively testing and tracking people with symptoms.

Now, France is under lockdown and has just extended it until at least May 11. Meanwhile, Germany plans to reopen part of its economy next week.

The experiences of these two countries show that just having substantial national wealth and high quality health care systems isn’t enough to keep citizens safe from the deadly coronavirus. Saving lives is also about how quickly, thoroughly, and effectively the government responds to the brewing crisis. Any delay, it seems, is very costly.

“Countries that were slow to respond have, so far, paid the price,” Thomas Bollyky, a global health expert at the Council on Foreign Relations think tank, told me last month.

If there’s a lesson for world governments, then, it’s to be more like Germany — not France.

I'm not sure I trust the numbers from Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan but these Corona numbers were posted on wikipedia and let's look at them here

It would be interesting to compare Major cities, here are regions compared, parts of Asia perhaps coming across virus like SARS and MERS and neo animal-flus evolving from markets seems to have been ready for a lockdown or some kind of medical strategy

North America 12,234,890 - Deaths 725 Per Millions
South America 10,606,820 - Deaths 740
Central America 1,571,442 - Deaths 640 Per Million

East Asia 315,416 - Deaths 4 per Million?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_by_country_and_territo
ry#Cases_and_deaths_by_region

Six Oceania sovereign states have yet to report a case: Kiribati, the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Tonga, and Tuvalu. Australia and New Zealand have been praised for their handling of the pandemic compared to other western nations, with the latter wiping out all community transmission of the virus. The most recent country or territory to report its first confirmed case was Samoa, on 18 November 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic spread to a number of cruise ships, with the nature of such ships—including crowded semi-enclosed areas, increased exposure to new environments, and limited medical resources—contributing to the heightened risk and rapid spread of the disease

The COVID-19 pandemic spread to many military ships. The nature of these ships, which includes working with others in small enclosed areas and a lack of private quarters for the vast majority of crew, contributed to the rapid spread of the disease, even more so than on cruise ships

No. The numbers don't even seem high. Not even 4 times the amount of flu deaths a few years back.

Virus might vanish eventually become a common cold due to a more wild variant

USA, India, Brazil continue to have the worst numbers of cases with with French, British, Russia, Italy, and Mexico going catching up?
Seems like France will hit Third place soon

USA, Brazil, India have the worst deaths with British, Italians, some in Peru, Mexico, Indonesia catching up
Per head of population it seems Latin America and Eastern Europe have the worst deaths.

In some parts of the world people seem to continue being paranoid about the virus

The Green Cross Man is a costumed superhero character created in England in mid-1970 as an aid to teaching young children the Green Cross Code, and for promoting general road safety via television adverts. So it might be finally over after 4 Years!!!

'Biden ends COVID vaccine mandates for feds, international flyers'

https://nypost.com/2023/05/01/biden-ends-covid-vaccine-mandates-for-fe
ds-and-flyers
/

Australia, Canada, New Zealand had very strong Lockdowns but it looks like they also mind fragged their own people with isolation, depression, mental illness also not going outside and interacting screws with immune systems. Despite heavy Lockdown Australia still had 20,200 + Death, New Zealand 4,000 + Dead and Canada 52,000 + so Covid and the Fear of Covid continued to spread across Canada despite the government saying it was in control with heavy restriction.
Even the Chinese who normally follow the rules of the China government got pissed off and almost started to riot and wanted life to return to normal.
Restrictions does not seem to do much once thew virus is already inside the country, Ranking at 74 is Japan which used strong restrictions, ranking at 78 is Sweden which attempted herd immunity but unfortunately sacrificed many of its elderly population once Covid got inside Nursing homes.

Isolated islands and locked in city states had some of the smallest deaths Tuvalu, Saint Helena, Falkland Islands, Vatican City, Cook Islands, Africa and many Tropical Countries had Low Death as Strong UV or Strong Sunlight kills Covid and also they have worse things to worry about in some of these nations like a Militia Revolution killing the Government, AIDs, Malaria, Civil War etc

The USA had the highest number of cases, also when counting per million of Population in Corona virus 'Cases' some countries do have higher cases. South Korea, Iceland, San Marino, Faeroe Islands, Austria, Slovenia, Brunei, Andorra, Martinique, France, Gibraltar rank higher but they might have allowed a less fatal variant to burn through their populations, the worst deaths per Million of Population are Former Communist Eastern European countries or Latin American nation of Peru, the USA ranks at 15 for Deaths per Million of Population.
