This year marks the 73rd anniversary of the end of WWII and the 100th of the end of WWI.

So much pain and suffering. Europe was torn asunder and WWI brought the start of mechanized warfare. Great Houses fell at this time and the Old World was on fire.

Twenty-one years passed and once again the world was on fire. The pain and suffering was ten fold more.

So on this day, the 11th sometimes still called "Armistice" or more common Remembrance Day. We stop when the clocks chime at 11am and remember those who fell and the few who remain having served their countries in the Great War. Those who fell and those who remain having served their countries in WWII.

Lest we forget.

I can't even imagine what it was like to be in a war like that where everyone was being drafted and so many were dying. What a frightening time that must have been to live through.

I can't help but look back at the 80's and 90's when I grew up and long for them. What a great time that was to be a kid, even if my own personal/family life was relatively shit. Still seems pretty care free compared to WWI/WWII and even right now.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Veterans Day is for Veterans, who All Gave Some.
Memorial Day is for Some Gave All.

I am Canadian so this day is to me for both.

My dad and others I have known over the years GAVE SOME. And I have been told stories of those who GAVE ALL.

True THG. I heard about that yesterday and was sickened by it.

My Prime Minister M. Trudeau stood in the rain without a coat on or even an umbrella over his head and gave a speech.

Canada does not have a separate Memorial Day?

I don't recall my Canadian friends telling me this.

As far as I have ever known there has been no other day to remember our war dead and veterans than Remembrance Day in Canada.

You must have been so proud on Obama's first Veterans Day, when he refused to salute during the National Anthem.

That popular lie was actually about Michelle Obama, and easily dispelled.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/veterans-day/

It feels most of the things you believe JSF end up being debunked on Snopes. I suppose that means Snopes is part of the Dark Web/Deep State?

Unless of course you have a linky that says otherwise...? That's another thing I've noticed about many of your claims - you never provide cites.

Some day Trump's "charisma" will wear off and people will see him for the shrew he is. Glad for Canada to have a living breathing human for a Prime Minister - (I got it right this time ). Trudeau and Macron are the future - Trump's & Putin's time will pass and we'll learn a great deal from it and actually be better for it. Essentially, who we don't want to be.

Canada has never had a draft and still doesn't. Our armed forces are all volunteer.

My grandfather never volunteered as he was running his farm and helping to supply, I guess food for the war effort at home and a broad. And my father, his two sisters and two brothers were all children during WWI. Another brother was born but after that war ended.

When the Great Depression ended and WWII on the horizon, my father was a man in his early 30s. His sisters were married and living in the States, one brother had his own farm and family, one brother was a drunkard and the younger one in his late teens. My father was the only one who volunteered.

Not just living and breathing but thinking and feeling as well. Trudeau knew his words were what was important not his comfort.

Believe me G when I say I fervently hope so.
