Is anybody else getting tired of being played yet?

What started out as around 4,000 people is now being counted at around 7,000 people. The laughable "barricades" they had to brave at the Mexican border weren't even as strong as the corals for lines on a ride at Great America.

All of the videos I've seen of these people show them wearing brightly colored and clean clothing. If they were really fleeing a bad situation and making a thousands of miles trek on foot, they'd be wearing nothing but the clothes on their backs and any backpacks or luggage they'd be carting around with them would have been packed with as much food and water as possible instead of fresh changes of clothes. At this point, if any of this wasn't staged, they'd look at least as bad as the cast of The Walking Dead.

This is a reality show.

This is as real as a Bear Grylls survival show, where the cameras get turned off and he can be found at a local hotel for the night that comes with a free continental breakfast.

The only thing is, I have no idea who's funding this. It could literally be anybody.

I don't see any possible good end game here for Democrats, but why would that stop them from trying? We've seen a lot of recent examples of bad ideas blowing up in their faces.

I suspect it could also be Trump himself that is funding this. Of course that could never be proven and their would be no money trail, but as I've mentioned in several threads now I was highly suspicious of this whole deal right in time for the mid-term elections.

The good news is, since this is a made-for-TV movie, it will have a "family friendly" ending. Ultralibs who just want to open our borders for the whole world to invade won't be happy about the outcome, but the ending here will be anti-climatic and I think it will be enough to get more votes out for Republicans at the end of the day.

Here's how I see it going down in the final days...

3 Days Until Border Crossing:

Trump has a shit load of military forces lining up at any entry points on the border. We're probably going to be learning a lot about new government drone technology since it would be unaffordable to have a line of military personnel lined up shoulder to shoulder across the whole border.

At the same time, we'll start seeing the well dressed and well fed "caravan" make a big show for the cameras by forming a "Mighty Ducks V" formation... Pregnant women will make up the tip of it, with all of the children lined up along both wings of the front and the men in the middle and back.

This will negate the military's use of rubble ball rifles to impede progress since that would be a political disaster for the GOP.

2 Days Until Border Crossing:

Nothing new. Just a bunch of overpaid assholes on FOX and CNN telling you what they think. Man, this is great for business!

1 Day Until Border Crossing:

Same old shit. But you're still watching, aren't you? Of course you are.

The Standoff:

We're going to see the military lined up with their guns on one side, and a group of likely over 10,000 people ready to cross the border, all wearing brand new shiny clothes, freshly showered and made up and ready for the camera. It will be a standoff of some kind of bizarro world version of Braveheart.

We get some inspirational speech that the Ultralibs will eat up, likely from one of the pregnant women at the front of the V.

This may go on for a few days until they make a move. None of the solders can or would do anything because nobody is going to start shooting at women and children, rubber bullets and beanbags or not.

Border Crossing:

And here's our anti-climatctic, family friendly ending.

Soldiers will stand down and allow them to cross the border, where they will subsequently be detained. Learning the lessons from months ago, there will be no separation of adults and children. They will then be processed and deported.

Knowing what a showman and troll Trump is, he might even rent out a cruise liner and give them a great party of a trip on the way back home. The military drones might even make a comeback at this stage of the story and give us the inside scoop of the party boat.

This whole fucking thing is so ridiculous. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this is exactly how it goes down.

We're being played here... and to tell you the truth, I don't even have the slightest idea who is pulling the strings.

You invest a lot more thought into reality TV than I do.
With 24/7 news crew coverage, could we get a GPS tracking model of their geographical location? Like NORAD tracking Santa Claus each year?

Are the pregnant women marching these thousand miles, or getting van rides between photo ops? Is this the best thing for babies?

When lined up with the preggers in front, at the border. One focused entry point does not spread 1,800 miles. Not that many Armed Services members needed to cover the focal point, even if spread across miles.
Anyhow, the U.S. should broadcast appeals to the masculinity of Muslims, hiding behind the skirts of the superior, and more brave women. This has worked to ferret out Terrorists fairly well in the past.

Which worked on the bridge. What do you expect Mexico to do? Run out tanks? They were being let in only a few at a time. You do that thing so many Americans do: you think about the perfect solution and then have no clue how hard it would be or the complete impracticality of making that happen. You haven't work enough jobs yet. My friend and I have this saying, "just another great idea that doesn't work." It's 98% of the time the case why reality is so far from being our imagined perfect. There's usually a good reason why those incredibly obvious ideas you have at your computer or on your couch are what is. Trump is finding that out with a lot of his dumb ass ideas.

Of the 2 party there's only one possibility and that's Trump/GOP. They have used this impending invasion of illegals, and Middle Eastern people and MH13 hordes before. As you say, there's just no angle for Dems. Glad to see you able to think objectively on this at least.

WTF? They've been walking for what, a week to ten days? And you can see from your tv how good there clothes are holding up? What do you think they're doing, buying clothes on the way?

WaPo:
"It is not clear precisely what route the caravan took, but it probably looked something like this (using Google Maps as a guide). The distance between the two points is about 400 miles, which Google estimates would take a little less than six days to cover on foot.

That estimate does not include rest stops, so it is clear the entire journey has not been undertaken on foot. The nature of the caravan is it is somewhat nebulous in form, with people joining and leaving the procession and some traveling by bus and truck while others trudge behind."

Ha, no they don't - Jesus SIGHOLE, you've dropped any pretense and are just openly lying now. What could be so important to you that completely trashing your "character" is worth it? Hope it's huge.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/27/us/politics/fast-check-donald-trump
-democrats-open-borders.html

— President Trump, speaking on Monday at a campaign rally in South Carolina
"“The Democrats want open borders. They want anybody they wanted, including MS-13, pouring into the country.”

THE FACTS
False.

Democrats have argued that building a wall on the southwestern border is ineffective and a waste of resources, and rejected hard-line proposals to limit legal immigration. But Mr. Trump is grossly exaggerating Democrats’ positions when he conflates their opposition to his signature campaign promise and immigration priorities as “open borders.” And there is no evidence that they “want anybody,” including MS-13, to enter the United States freely.

While criticizing Mr. Trump’s immigration policies, the Democratic National Committee has committed to improving border security.

Senator Chuck Schumer of New York and Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the Democratic leaders, have rebutted the president’s charges. Additionally, their aides cited several examples of legislation that are supported by Democrats and would have provided border security funding."

They may suck as a party but they don't want "open borders."

Like Bernie said, that would only benefit a Koch Brother.

California is a "sanctuary state", so in addition to CA Dems opposing "the wall" they also refuse to allow the CA National Guard help patrol the border, and actively oppose enforcing immigration laws.

That, plus De Leon's call to "abolish ICE", which garnered the endorsement of the CA Democratic Party ... If that isn't an "open border" policy, I don't know what is.

In the 4 weeks before the 2014 election, the news was covering Ebola because the GOP believed it would help them win. Ebola is back and bigger than ever, but it is not being covered because the GOP now believes the Caravan is more help winning the 2018 election.

The large, ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is not attracting much coverage on American television news because TV news producers believe (likely for good reason) that the American viewing public is not incredibly interested in public health in sub-Saharan Africa.

That said, there was a time when TV news covered Ebola in Africa a lot: in the immediate runup to the 2014 midterms, when Republican Party political operatives decided that trying to alarm people about Ebola would be a good way to win votes.

As this 2014 report from Rob Savillo and Matt Gertz shows, Ebola coverage was widespread on both cable and network news, with over 1,000 segments airing in the four weeks before the election. Coverage then immediately plummeted when it no longer served the tactical interests of the Republican Party, with just 50 segments airing over the two post-election weeks.

Today, of course, a new ongoing Ebola outbreak that happens to coincide with a US midterm election is not something the Republican Party wants to emphasize in its midterm messaging. Consequently, the question of African public health continues to languish in its customary obscurity.

What Republicans want to scare people about instead is a group of a few thousand Central Americans who are currently in Southern Mexico. Some of them may make it to the US-Mexico border a few weeks from now, at which point they will be denied entry. Consequently, television news is doing a lot of coverage of this issue rather than of Ebola.

When pressed as to why they are allowing President Trump to serve as their assignment editor, most reporters tend to say that presidential statements are inherently newsworthy — if Trump says something is a national emergency, then that’s big news. I would urge people involved in the industry to think about this question more honestly because when Barack Obama proclaimed that “no challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change,” television news did not respond with weeks of nonstop climate coverage. When Obama was president, TV news took its assignments from Republican congressional leaders.

Now that Trump is president, TV news takes its assignments from the Republican-dominated White House. Whatever Republicans want to put on the news agenda comes to dominate the news agenda.

I hope you realize Trump sensibly promised to shutdown the government many times unless he got a Wall, exactly what he needs today to stop this Caravan. Didn't you make the connection that the wall is exactly what he needs to stop a Caravan? You should have, if you had any commonsense.

Perhaps Trump is "reinterpreting" the word shutdown? Because Trump did not "shutdown" the government. It is as if he wasn't serious about the Wall in the first place.

Signym, are arguing with Trump? Weren't you listening closely to Trump's voice? You might hear what he said about the Wall. It meant everything to how he should handle the Caravan. Without the Wall, Trump has to depend on Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico to do what the Wall is suppose to do. Trump is a fool if he expects the presidents of foreign countries to do his job for him, the job of stopping aliens from crossing the US border.

You did write "The only thing is, I have no idea who's funding this. It could literally be anybody." What's so special about "funding"? How much money does it take to walk? Literally, this is all Trump. If he didn't beat the drum on this everyday at every campaign rally there wouldn't be anything to notice other than Central America is full of millions of people walking everywhere rather than driving, mostly because they do NOT have funding. Please send them money if you want them to get to the border before the election is over. That would make Trump look ridiculous when the US Border Patrol stops the Caravan as they routinely stop everybody, everyday of the week, holidays included.

Yes, I think the wall is necessary. Really! and that is despite being a Democrat. The GOP will not actually be building a complete Wall that competently keeps aliens out because it's in-completion can be used by the GOP year after year to attack Democrats. There is already finished about as many miles of the Wall as the GOP will ever fund. Why bother completing the whole damn thing when all the holes in it are so useful in elections?

And as for the "Caravan", that is in the news because Trump wants it in the news. All he does is mention it and then a dozen news organizations will then cover that unimportant story. As soon as the election is over, he will forget the "Caravan" until the next time he needs to get votes from fearful Republicans worried about aliens speaking Spanish.

There are hundreds of other stories about poverty that Trump cannot use, stories from Central America much sadder than thousands walking for months from El Salvador to Houston. Those stories won't be in the News because it doesn't serve Trump as well as the "Caravan". If Trump doesn't talk about it, it stops being News anymore. It is foolish to let Trump decide what is News and what is not, but that is what TV is doing. www.distance.to/El-Salvador/Texas

It doesn't take any money to walk outside of my house and take a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood and enjoy the crisp October air.

We're talking about 4,000 people (or 14,000 now I've heard) walking thousands of miles, with children, who always seem to be wearing brand new clothes and don't look to be going hungry.

You tell me. How much money does it cost to clothe and feed 14,000 people for a month?

I saw Trump on TV say that the Democrats paid for the “Caravan”. He was telling a bigger lie after Mike Pence said it was Venezuela that might have paid. Here is the video of Trump lying:
www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/10/23/trump_on_caravan_we_will_do
_whatever_we_have_to_theyre_not_coming_in.html

Lying works with 99% of voters. Trump said that murderers from MS-13 are walking in the “Caravan” and he said you can’t prove they aren’t. Trump said that terrorists are also walking toward American and he dared the media to prove they aren’t. Trump doesn’t need to go to the next step of providing fake proof. Saying it is true is almost as good as fake “proving” it.

The GOP should tell an even bigger lie by paying for fake voter I.D. cards and bus tickets so that the “Caravan” arrives before the election, then blame the Democrats when the fake cards are discovered by the U.S. Border Patrol who will arrest the “Caravan”. The people can’t read English, so the GOP can tell them that the voter I.D. cards are free passes to cross the border.

Only a few fake voter I.D. cards and real bus tickets ought to be enough to swing an election in the GOP’s favor. It is a damn cheap investment in dirty tricks to win 2018. (But not as cheap as Trump simply lying! That is free.) All the GOP operatives running the dirty trick will cleverly identify themselves as Democrats to the illegal aliens when they handout the fake voter I.D. cards.

The TV reporters won’t figure it out for months and by then it won’t make any more difference than Trump cheating on his taxes. Does anybody even remember this story from earlier this month about Trump? A $500 million tax theft scandal and it is only recalled by the richest 1% of voters: www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-sc
hemes-fred-trump.html
Trump handled this easily by lying. He said you can’t prove he didn’t secretly pay the full amount and, besides, it was long ago, before he started running for President.

If most Americans did not have amnesia, that story would change the upcoming election. But it happened too many days ago for 99% of voters to remember.

The problem with your post is that everything you say *could* be true, but there is no proof for any of it, yet you've bought into everything you just said 100%.

But if somebody says that it was Soros, or somebody else you like, they're a conspiracy theorist.

Trump didn't bring any proof except his mouth to the news conference, but said all these lies, including the make-believe story about Soros, and then the news media repeated them as if they are Trump's stenographer. They don't call a falsehood a lie. Instead, they quote Trump and then shrug it off as his problem, not their responsibility to call him a liar. That is why Trump lies and can get away with it. The stories should be about Trump lying. The stories should not pretend the lie might be true, don't need to know more before publishing it to the world.

Nobody that has money would spend it on the Caravan. Rich people would let the poor walk, then watch it on TV for free. Why do more? People have been walking, without being paid to walk, from Central America to North America since 1945. Nobody had to pay them to come to America. Nobody started suddenly paying them in 2018 to keep them walking. That's why there are 12,000,000 illegal aliens. They brought themselves to America. They did it all alone.
www.factcheck.org/2018/06/illegal-immigration-statistics/

There are thousands of migrant deaths along the Mexico–United States border. In case you want to know, nobody paid them to kill themselves. They walked for free to death.

I heard there is supposed to be a special crossover unified episode of this show.

The caravan from Guatemala is only 1,000 but have been paid to join up with the 14,000 invaders from Honduras.
Maybe Soros will need to get a few busses to get them further along their scripted route.

I'm not even sure if the Honduras Invaders and Guatemalan trailers are on the same network.

Obviously, GSTRING, you don't live in California.

Being a "sanctuary state" doesn't mean that local PDs and other agencies don't help enforce the "bad" immigration laws (PLEASE TELL US WHICH LAWS THOSE ARE) they aren't helping enforce ANY immigration laws.

California has the highest number of illegal aliens in the nation. Obviously, from the sheer number of illegal aliens living here. ICE CAN'T do the job by themselves. Illegal aliens here feel entitled to live and work here because there is no "downside" ... illegal workers aren't deported, their families are given all kinds of consideration from public health to public schools- putting huge strains on systems because of all of their unresolved health, emotional, and language problems ... to which they don't contribute because if they're working in the gray economy they don't pay income taxes.

There are swaths of LA and surrounding cities which are just giant gang territories made up of illegal aliens ... I know people who've lived there and been intimidated out of those neighborhoods by having bricks thrown thru their windows, or being kidnapped and held at knifepoint. Round 'em all up and deport 'em, I say. If you're not a citizen and you don't have a valid visa, you don't belong here.

And if you have a visa and you're working here... learning fucking English and make at least a TINY attempt to integrate.

But, if you think accepting unlimited numbers of unintegrated illegal aliens is such a fine idea, maybe we could send a few million over to YOUR hometown. Sound like a plan?

So, yeah ... let's send a couple million illegal immigrants to your fair city! It'll make Los Angeles a much nicer place to live, and you'll get to experience the consequences of uncontrolled immigration.

I LIKE that plan!

****

But, if you think accepting unlimited numbers of unintegrated illegal aliens is such a fine idea, maybe we could send a few million over to YOUR hometown. Sound like a plan?

That description sounds like California has open borders.
Only a complete moron wouldn't be able to see that.

I lived in CA for some years, but CA had not yet become a province of Mexico. That turning point may have been when Illegal Aliens were allowed to vote, and Sanchez was given the Seat vs Dornan.

Sacramento might feel that mountain range makes them immune from LA. Or maybe if they have Winter the Illegal Aliens won't venture there.

You did seem to skip the fact that Illegal Aliens perpetrate 3 times the crimes as Americans do.

BTW, which State in America shares a land border with Somalia? A person would need to be lobotomized to think that was equivalent.

Meh. Don't even get frustrated by these goons.

It's not going to turn out the way that they want, and because of the current makeup of the Supreme Court there will be hearings involving all of these illegal activities and the illegal immigration will come to an end.

Just have to wait for the mid-terms and the reality shows to come to an end first.

Double Meh - you're still full of sh*t in terms of the "Dems want open borders!" fake hysteria AND this caravan being a crisis/invasion.

I have no idea if the Somalis are legal or illegal - do they smell differently?

That'll be the day. When that happens you'll have to get a full time job to pay for all the sh*t that goes up in price.

Sure.
Converting all of those Mexico-siphoning jobs into Tax Paying jobs is really going to wreck the economy.

Hey, wait a sec.
I recently mentioned that reality is believed to have a bias.
And now you are referring to shows of Delusion as being Reality Shows. This is like layers and layers of warped.

Which thread did I ask if Reality has a Bias?

I thought it was a separate thread, but I don't see that.

Not wreck it for everyone - just poor people.

Who do you think was doing all those jobs you did't want to do so you could be unemployed and bitch about Obama ruining the economy?

I don't think JSF was unemployed.

If you're talking about me, those jobs would have paid a lot more if people weren't able to get away with paying illegals under the table at below minimum wage, which in turn stifles wages for better jobs at the same time.

Not the illegal's fault. It's our own government for not enforcing the laws we already have.

Both parties are to blame for that. Waiting to see if Trump is going to change that or if he's just full of shit like the rest of them.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Yes - could be anyone, but you was who I was thinking about.

And this is just the kind of short thinking so many consumers make: "...those jobs would have paid a lot more if people weren't able to get away with paying illegals under the table at below minimum wage, which in turn stifles wages for better jobs at the same time."

That's exactly what I'm saying! Think it through - if those employers have to pay more, honest wages then they'll have to make up for that.... where? In the cost of goods and services. Eureka. It's all connected. Pay fair wages and everyone pays more for milk and cable, you move one thing up and it moves other things up at the same time. So which do you want on your salary? I'll take fair wages every day. Consumers tend to leave themselves out of the equation.
