The Spin Doctors have been insistent on comingling 2 separate stories: meddling in Elections - which every nation does, even to their Allies, including America - by Russia, and the unrelated Fake News Fabricated narrative of Trump! Russia! Collusion!

I'm not sure if your post adds to this confusion, doesn't seem to differentiate between the 2.

That's the problem - isn't it?

'You' - including the western propaganda 'news' organizations - can't discuss Russia+election with any level of proportion or integrity.

Instead, it has to be inflated to RUSSIA!!! is THE reason WHY HILLARY LOST and TRUMP WON and there must have been COLLUSION!!! between RUSSIA!!! and TRUMP!!! and WIKILEAKS!!!!!! and RUSSIAN MAGNATES doing PUTIN'S!!!BIDDING ... AND ... AND ... AND ... (add your item of incoherent hysteria here) ...

... all to delegitimize and un-elect the elected President.

I'm just pointing out that all the spin leads to an extremely convoluted, self-contradictory narrative like the set of polls above.

'People' trust Mueller more than they trust Trump and they don't approve of the summit and they think Russia meddled in the the election and that has them concerned ... but they really don't care.

Trump effect: Republican support for Russia has doubled

support-for-russia-has-doubled

Since 2014, the percentage of Republicans who consider Russia an ally has almost doubled from 22 percent to 40 percent. Democrats still have no illusions about Russian intentions since there are few Democrats now (28 percent) or four years ago (25 percent) who believe the Russians are our buddies.

The crossover point according to Gallup when more Republicans thought Russia was friend rather than foe came in March 2015. I don’t think it was a coincidence that was about the time Trump became a star on the GOP presidential stage and started his campaign to make his BFF, Vlad, a saint.

The differences between Democrats and Republicans on Russia are striking. Trump has given new meaning to the phrase “Red State.”

After reading from a script last week like some errant 5 year old having to make restitution for breaking his neighbor's windows, Trump is back this week to "it could have been anybody." Even while trying to concede that his Intelligence Angencies were right, even after commending them, "my guys are great," he contradicted their findings and himself AGAIN by saying, "or it could have been someone else."

There are only a few plausible reasons for this obvious effed up behavior:

1. dementia.
2. Compulsive liar
3. Fear of what Putin/Russia would do to him if he doesn't behave and follow their directives
4. An asteroid is going to hit the earth within the next 5 years and there's nothing we can do about it.
5. We are all Russian citizens already and there's nothing we can do about it.

I'm going to go with #6, which is my usual standby to all of the Circus we see.

It's all a big spectacle to keep everybody's heads turned while the real "heist" is happening elsewhere. Trump's probably just an unwitting pawn in all of it, just like the rest of us. I have a feeling something bad probably is about to happen, and whoever is pulling those strings is probably thrilled to have Trump in the President's seat right now. If it wasn't Trump, they'd just have to do all of this from a different angle. Everybody can be manipulated. Trump doesn't need any money. All you have to do is threaten his ego and he'll be too busy writing Tweets all day to notice anything going on. I think it would probably be a lot more work to throw Hillary off the scent, or a lot more money.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I think none of you have any idea what Trump is doing, and why.

You're all so tied up with the idea that RUSSIA!!! is "somehow" going to "take over" the USA (if it already hasn't!!!) that you've lost sight of our REAL problems; the biggest one being that we have absolutely nothing to back our "petrodollar", and when our important trading partners stop accepting our worthless promises for their real goods, we're hosed.

What I don't understand is how all this paranoia about RUSSIA!!! managed to worm its way in so deeply. I'll bet NONE of you can describe the arena where Russia is our biggest threat, just as none of you can describe our American interests. Because you can't describe what our interests are, you have no idea how we're actually being threatened.

The deep state's/ neocon's position is that every place on the globe represents some sort of existential interest. You're so used to reacting to "crises" in faraway places that "must" be answered ... SYRIA!! UKRAINE!!! IRAQ!!! AFGHANISTAN!!! MOLDOVA!! BALUCHISTAN!! ... that if ANTARCTICA!!! or MARS!!! .... were slipped in, you'd be stressing about that too, if the media told you to!

RUSSIA!!! is not the source of our biggest problems. It is not an economic or even financial threat (China, the EU, and the BIS are more problematic) and it is NOT about to re-create the old Soviet Union. But it CAN existentially threaten us in two ways

(1) Nuclear war, and
(2) Cyberwar.

Reagan did an excellent job reducing the risk of threat(1) thru negotiation (which the neocons and deep-staters have been seeking to reverse ever since). I suggest that negotiation be re-started with the purpose of reducing our risk of nuclear annihilation, even from space.

As far as cyberwarfare is concerned, the USA's dependence on compromised operating systems like Microsoft - altho it allowed the NSA convenient access to those systems - represent a huge security risk for the many institutions and businesses that use them, not only via cyberwarfare but also criminal enterprises. If our many institutions and businesses ... utilities and grid operators, banks and financial centers, hospitals, military bases, government centers .... are too greedy or cheap to harden their systems against criminal or malicious interference (There should be a process by which a system, if compromised, can be broken down into local parts and placed under manual control) ... well then, whose fault is that? In any case, our NSA supposedly has their own cyberweaponry at the ready, so at this moment we're probably at the "mutually assured destruction" stage, and maybe negotiation is the best way to manage that. However, we would need to include other advanced nations because, unlike nuclear weapons, cyberweapons are cheap to make and the barrier to entry is low. We would need to account for criminal enterprises as well as "state actors".

*****

So keep your eyes on the four of five balls that really matter and the spin won't bother you so much.

His destroying all our relationships with our allies around the world, as well as destroying jobs in America with his trade wars. Trade wars that encourage our trading partners to find others to trade with. Like china and Russia.

And on and on and on. All this while Sig and a few other morons here defend him. Fuck you comrade sig.

Maria Butina ... had wider high-level contacts in Washington than previously known, taking part in 2015 meetings between a visiting Russian official and two senior U.S. officials.

The meetings, disclosed by several people familiar with the sessions and a report prepared by a Washington think tank that arranged them, involved Stanley Fischer, then Federal Reserve vice chairman, and Nathan Sheets, then Treasury undersecretary for international affairs. The two meetings, which have not been previously reported, reveal a wider circle of high-powered connections that Butina sought with American political leaders and special interest groups.

So.

N Korea is dismantling their nuclear facilities. Did you know that?

Peace is about to break out in Syria, which Israel is going to recognize.

The NATO nations might, for the first time ever, be required to ante up their share of the bill for "mutual" self-defense.

The United States is STILL not in the TTP/ TTIP and as a result continues to have sovereignty over its environmental and labor laws, and NAFTA is being slow-walked to the death chamber.

Trump is attempting to put our oil and natgas resources at the base for our dollar's value.

Trump is also fighting the "intelligence community", which has screwed up our foreign policy time and time again in favor of everyone EXCEPT the United States!

Now, there are a lot of things that Trump is doing (such as the "trickle-down" tax cut and environmental policy) which I strongly disagree with.

I think we urgently need a return to Glass Steagall.

But my disapproval of Trump, like my disapproval of Bill Clinton, has nothing to do with RUSSIA!!! or personal foibles or even financial crimes, but with POLICY ... something that you seem to be entirely unfamiliar with.

Cyberwarfare - I think that's a nothing burger. Sure, it could make life very uncomfortable for a while. But to me, nothing says 'irreversible' like pasting a blue Cherenkov radioactive glow on the planet.

Everything - and I mean everything - that Trump decides - the good, the bad, the middling - looks pretty short-term and reversible - except nuclear war.

People need to chill about all the non-nuclear-war nothingburgers.

Nuclear war is our only serious, immediate, death-knell threat.

Defeated Syrian rebels near the border with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights are preparing to evacuate the region and cede control of the frontier to Bashar al-Assad, securing a key victory for the Syrian president, whose forces are on the verge of concluding a swift campaign to reclaim control of southern Syria.
Under the deal, the Syrian military will deploy once again to its pre-2011 positions along the Golan frontier, defined by the 1974 disengagement treaty with Israel.

Hundreds of Syrian White Helmets evacuated to Jordan through Israel

BEIRUT -- The Israeli military in coordination with its U.S. and European allies evacuated hundreds of Syrian rescue workers known as the White Helmets from near its volatile frontier with Syria, in a complex and first-of-a-kind operation. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said Sunday that 422 White Helmets volunteers were evacuated, instead of the initial 800 cleared for the operation.

The evacuees, who were hemmed in from one side by advancing hostile Syrian troops and from another by militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), were transported to Jordan, from where they are expected to be resettled in Europe and Canada in the coming weeks.

You all ... and I mean you, THUGR, JO, SECOND, and WISHY ... seem to take it as accepted fact that Putin is influencing Trump's policies to our detriment, and yet you have not been able to show a single instance of where it has happened.

If I look at Trump's policies that YOU seem to think are detrimental to our nation ...
Curbing illegal immigration
Tax cuts for the rich,
Withdrawing from "free trade" agreements and imposing tariffs on imports/ engaging in a trade war,
Environmental policies
Social policies

... where is RUSSIA'S!!! hand in any of this???

Nowhere to be found!

The thing that seems to trigger you is that Trump doesn't share your slavering fear and hatred of Russia. You seem to feel that anyone who doesn't react with total paranoia to Russia must - "somehow"- be in Putin's pocket, although you have not been able to get a bead on HOW, exactly, this causes a problem for us!

I think part of this is a reflexive reaction that anything "good for Russia" must be "bad for us", which is based on the (deeply embedded neocon) assumption that WE (the United States) have vital/ existential interests in every square in of the globe, and so any agreements/ alliances/ influences that Russia manages to cobble together with Baluchistan or Kyrgyzstan or some other who-knows-where nation represents an existential threat to "our way of life". Seriously, who the fuck cares what happens in Moldova or Albania or Bhutan? Don't we have more important things to worry about/ spend our money on?

As I gather, our whole involvement with Turkey and Syria has to do with "Pipeline-istan". "We" (the USA) have done everything we can to block natgas pipelines from Iran and Russia into Europe. I don't know whether this is because it represents a competitive problem for our (fracked) natgas exports to the EU, or a competitive problem for our petrodollar ally Saudi Arabia (v Iran), These real, practical interests should be paid attention to, but not all these phony pseudo-causes that people get so wrapped up in.

To be fair and accurate, we can only know what we know. Unless you are getting classified briefings then you are largely in the "educated guesses" category like the rest of us. And you don't know what our sources are, though you will lie about them to help make you feel better. Our president is dedicated a Fux New viewer and is proud of not reading, so most of us are miles ahead of him.

To be fair, my "educated guesses" are better than yours because (1) I draw from a wider variety of sources and (2) I know more than you do; and I know people who know more than I do and (3) I look for EVIDENCE and the all-important cui bono? to parse events, as opposed to wild-eyed accusations/ off-kilter speculations. I have a pretty good idea of your "sources" based on the kinds of opinion that you bring to the board, plus the links that you (collectively) post.

I said you would lie about "my sources" and you did.

You prove that when someone is a liar it doesn't matter how much or what they know.

No?
Well, then. How can I have "lied" about something that I didn't even say? It seems like the liar is you.

But then, I realize that you're just distracting from the rest of my post as best you can, because you have absolutely no intelligent response. So you pop up with your go-to TROLL response. I DO have to ask, tho: Are YOU five?

Not saying it didn't happen, but hopefully Billy Bush was in attendance and will leak that recording soon.

No, you definitely lied. You said: "I draw from a wider variety of sources and" - how would you know what my sources are or how many? You can't, just like you can't know the other things you pretend to. I find it so very telling that you list Twitter like it's a single source. That's like saying the Internet is a single source. And if you think so then you are well and truly effed knowledge-wise.

Did you see Israel just shot down a Syrian jet, right? How's that peace in the middle east working now?

You really believe those NK images tell the whole story? This is NK we're talking about. They bailed on a simple meeting with Pompeo. Wrong again, toots.

More like you're just not worth the time. Have you noticed how for some who thinks they're so smart you sure are wrong a lot? Like almost always? It has to be tough being Pro Trump because you're a Russia defender first, and then wanting people to think you're smart at the same time. "One of these things is not like the other...."

Ok ... I ASSUME that your sources are limited because you seem entirely unaware of so many things. Bad assumption on my part: It's entirely possible that you read widely and understand almost nothing of what you read.

And still... YOU, JO, SECOND, WISHY, and THUGR... have not been able to find a single instance of RUSSIA!!! doing us harm. When the topic comes up, it's like you jump into bed and pull the covers over your head because you're afraid that "something bad" might happen without having the faintest idea of what that "something" might be. Like a five-year-old. Seriously.

The reason why I keep bringing up the idea that you should engage your brain and come up with some basic concept of AMERICAN (not Syrian, not Venezuelan, not Baluchistani or Indonesian or Malawian or the EUan or fill-in-the-blankian, but AMERICAN) interests is not (just) because I think it would be an interesting and fruitful topic of discussion, but because YOU need to give shape to your own thoughts, even if you never bring them here to this board. Otherwise, you run the risk of reacting to tweets, publicity stunts and momentary events without having an metric against which to measure them:

Is this real? is it important? Who does this benefit? Who does this hurt? Is it a distraction? Should I respond, and (if so) how?

Now, I don't know how often "you", specifically, have been wrong, but I know that people like you have been wrong quite often, having been stampeded on Afghanistan, Iraq, Panama, Grenada, Ukraine, Libya, Syria, and Sudan; having been wrong about the last election; and STILL wrong ... not only about RUSSIA!!!! but also about what "most" Americans are concerned about, and the most urgent problems facing us.

Russia!!

Stormy Daniels is 455 times more interesting to American consumers of the MSM than the war in Yemen. You dispute that? You still don't understand how the MSM works even after I've patiently explained it about a half dozen times.

Perhaps we should ban the press or tell them what questions to ask?

Democrats Propose Making It Illegal To Spread False Election Information

Several congressional Democrats plan to introduce legislation Thursday that would make it a federal crime to knowingly and intentionally publish false information about elections.

The legislation would criminalize knowingly spreading wrong information related to the time and place of elections as well as voter qualifications and registration status. The bill would also make it illegal to knowingly claim an endorsement from someone within 60 days of a federal election. Anyone who spread such misinformation would be subject to up to five years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

While dirty tricks such as fliers telling people to vote on the wrong day have a long tradition in American politics, the legislation comes amid increased attention to the spread of misinformation amid Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

YouTube deletes four Alex Jones videos and gives him one strike

YouTube has deleted four videos posted by InfoWars founder Alex Jones, the controversial online personality famous for peddling conspiracy theories, and issued a "strike" against him.

The strike means Jones cannot livestream content for three months. Should he receive a second strike within that timeframe, YouTube will bar him from uploading new content for two weeks. YouTube deletes accounts after a third strike within that time period.

The videos uploaded to The Alex Jones Channel contained hate speech directed toward Muslims, among other groups; one featured the headline, "How to prevent liberalism" and showed an adult shoving a child to the ground. In a blog post, InfoWars said YouTube claimed all four videos had violated its "policy on violent or graphic content."

Yup.

One of the many crazy reasons why I lean so far to the Right these days.

It's kind of insane how somewhere in the last decade the Democrats more closely resemble the old Neo-Cons than the current Republicans do.

I'm not really surprised about the whole party switch since they're really both two sides of the same coin, but it's amazing to me how hardly any of the people noticed the switch.

False Advertising Law and Legal Definition. Advertising is the act or practice of attracting public notice and attention. It includes all forms of public announcement that are intended to aid directly or indirectly in the furtherance or promulgation of an idea, or in directing attention to a business, commodity, service or entertainment.

"All forms of public announcement." This includes elected officials when running for office. All that's left to do is enforce it.

I agree with that. Every single one of them lies to get elected. We all know it, yet we do nothing about it.

How do you propose we go about enforcing these laws?

You'd essentially have to get all politicians to agree that they will be jailed for their lies.

I don't think this would ever happen, but the only way I see it happening is if there was a "Get out of jail free" card given to all current politicians for the lies they told to get elected. This would never pass unless the lies of the past were Grandfathered In.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Too funny. This is the same user who can't wait to try and silence others with threats of legal action over simple name calling, but now has a huge problem when some want to eliminate lies in our press. Which is it? Are you for or against lying? Only when you do it?

Plus: You complain endlessly about the MSM media but then you want to protect their "right" to make sh*t up? WTF? Do you read your own posts?
