Hulu Picks Up Triumph the Insult Comic Dog 2016 Election Special http://variety.com/2016/digital/news/hulu-triumph-the-insult-comic-dog-2016-election-special-1201685088/ January 21, 2016 | 10:30AM PT One-hour special from Funny Or Die to hit streaming service in February Todd Spangler, NY Digital Editor @xpangler Hulu inked an exclusive deal for “Triumph’s Election Special 2016,” featuring Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, from digital comedy studio Funny Or Die. The Triumph character was created by Conan O’Brien and Robert Smigel, who is the voice of the foul-mouthed, cigar-chomping canine wiseass that first appeared on NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” The one-hour special will be available to Hulu subscribers beginning in early February. In “Triumph’s Election Special 2016,” Hulu’s first partnership with Funny Or Die, Triumph hits the presidential campaign trail, traveling to Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina to crash campaign events and mock the media’s thirst for controversy. Triumph has already visited a Democratic debate and a Tea Party convention, as well as a string of Ted Cruz bus appearances. “A quote? I don’t have time for this s–t,” Triumph said in a prepared statement. “Triumph’s Election Special 2016” is executive produced by Robert Smigel, Conan O’Brien, Charlie Siskel, and Funny Or Die’s Mike Farah and Anna Wenger. Funny Or Die has tilled the political soil for material before, most notably with Zach Galifianakis’ “Between Two Ferns.” Funny Or Die was founded by CAA, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy; Judd Apatow also is a principal partner. The company’s investors include Time Warner and Sequoia Capital. The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at www.mediafire.com/folder/1uwh75oa407q8/Firefly
