6ixStringJack: Late Night with The Devil looks to me like one of those movies that will have your hair standing up on your neck whenever you're in the dark for the next few days after watching it. I hear there's no unearned jump scares, and that some people from "modern audiences" won't find the ending satisfying. That could mean it goes either way for me. I generally like endings that most people wouldn't like, but at the same time it could be an ending that the fart-smelling critics love, which is usually trash too. But it does have a high audience score and I've seen 2 people rave about it so far. |
6ixStringJack: I remember the first time that happened to me in my late teens or early 20's. Mostly pre-internet times in my life, and way before YouTube or social media as we know it today. Wasn't until years later that I found out quite a few people have gone through this, and those who have once are about 10 times more likely to have multiple occurrences. |
6ixStringJack: I don't get nightmares from movies either. Still suffer from night terrors on occasion, although I've gone through so many of those I figured out how to easily get out of them when you're paralized. You just need to start wiggling your toes and you'll quickly get life back into the limbs from the bottom up. Works great when the smoke demon is staring at you from the corner of the room and it's a herculean effort to try and sit up so you can snap out of it. |
Brenda: Oh, I'm sure it is. A lot of stuff I watched through my high school years and into my twenties is pretty cheesy now. |
Brenda: I was into my twenties when I saw IT. Never seen Killer Klowns from Outer Space. I've heard of the movie but never seen it. Clowns don't scare me, I just don't find them that funny is all. |
Brenda: I think I can handle it. Movies don't usually give me nightmares. |
6ixStringJack: But you go back and watch IT today and it was so cheesy and actually Tim Curry is hilarious in it. |
6ixStringJack: Same on IT! My younger brother and I were probably like 8 and 10 when we watched that and neither of us wanted to take a shower at my grandma's house because our shower upstairs was just a tiled stand-up unit with a drain in the floor and that shower scene was it for us. Between IT and Killer Klowns from Outer Space, my brother has an unreasonable fear of clowns to this day. |
6ixStringJack: Good idea if you're one to get the chills when you go to the bathroom in the dark and you just watched something scary. This one seems like a nightmare fuel movie. |
Brenda: It did seem like people like it. If I watch it I will have to lights on. I don't do the lights out anymore on certain movies. Last time I did that I was watching "IT" and that completely creeped me out. That was the first IT with Tim Curry in it. It was filmed in and around my city. |
6ixStringJack: Has a real creepy vibe to it, which is what's drawing me to it. I thought it came from the 60's or the 70's because it was filmed to look that way and it appears to take place in the 70's. I don't want to watch a trailer because I don't really know what it's about at all. I just love the look of how it's filmed and if it's impressive as the 97%/82% Critic/Audience score would lead you to believe, there could really be a sweet payoff on this thing. I think I am going to watch it soon with the lights out at night. |
Brenda: Might check it out. Looks like my local library has a copy of it. |
Brenda: Well, "Killer's Game" was on the express views and thought oh well. But yeah. Just no. I know what you mean. Horror really isn't my thing either but I thought it might be interesting. But again. Just yeah no. It might be okay. I'll have a look at what it says about it. |
6ixStringJack: I've heard of Killer's Game. Don't know about the werewolf one though. Horror usually isn't my thing at all, but the few things I've seen about Late Night With The Devil made it look like an interesting watch. [go to link] |
Brenda: One was a horror movie called, "Werewolves." I usually like werewolf movies. The only horror monster Blair and I could agree on. But this one made no sense what so ever and it wasn't an old one either. It was done in 2024. Basically a supermoon released a dormant gene in humans turning them into werewolves. Scientists working on something to stop it which it doesn't. So the whole movie is people running around trying to avoid them and only one family survives. It just wasn't believeable in any way. The other was about a contract killer putting a contract out on himself because he was dying. Some sort of comedy/ murder thing. Also dumb. "Killer's Game". |
6ixStringJack: What movies did you see that sucked? I'm thinking of maybe watching a horror one I heard about for the 2nd time today called something like "Late Night With The Devil". I thought it was an old movie when I heard about it a few months ago, but I guess it's only from a few years ago. Looks pretty interesting. |
Brenda: Like I said years and I could use a movie like that now. Last couple of movies from my library suxxxed. I just can't be bothered with what most like for me would be wrong numbers or scams. I manage to keep politics out of a lot of things too. And you have got the cell phone brains right. Can't tell you how many times I've almost been walked into because some idiot is looking at cell instead of paying attention to where they are walking. |
6ixStringJack: Shawshank is just a great feel good movie. Miss those. I find that not having a smart phone is a real good way to compartmentalize my life. I really do manage to keep my politics to myself and not think about them much if at all when I'm out in the actual real world. Too many cell phone brains out there today. |
Brenda: Yeah, I'm not sorry either. Said that to the poet after we had lunch. Her husband came to get her to do something else. She looked around for him and I spotted him stopped to which I said, "He's playing with his phone." I can't see the point. Barely anyone calls me on a landline, so why waste money on something I will never use. And if I have a seizure out it's not like it's going to be any use anyways. |
Brenda: I did like Shawshank Redemption and I think my library should still have a copy of it. I will be in my local library tomorrow. Returning something that I don't like. So I should look for it. |
