6ixStringJack: Late in the day now. Any luck getting in touch with management? Still might want to try asking your boss if you can't get anyone else. You got any stronger ladies at your Mahjong games that might be able to help you out after a game? Maybe buy them lunch or something? |
6ixStringJack: Yeah. I'm sure with two people you could get it done, as long as one of you were strong enough to lift that bed high enough to get something under the legs. |
Brenda: I should. They are usually in their office on Wednesday or I will definitely put in a call to them. My boss and her husband, I doubt it. They have been here for a couple of minutes after I moved in. And her husband did help me get the kitchen table and chairs that I saw a thrift store. But he mostly moaned through the whole job even with my help. So yeah I am not keen on asking for any help from them. |
Brenda: I think if I can get some help to get the plates under the back legs, between the two of us. We should be able to accomplish the job. |
6ixStringJack: *her husband, oops! |
6ixStringJack: Hopefully you can get in touch with them tomorrow. I know you would probably dread the thought, but any chance you could get your boss or your husband to help? I know you've been to their place before but I don't know if they've ever been to yours or how you'd feel about that. |
6ixStringJack: Getting plates or sliders under the just the back legs likely wouldn't help, since you already know you can't lift a corner to put something under the leg. You'd still be dragging the front legs through the carpet, and I think that would still be too much resistance to pushing it in place for you. |
Brenda: I wouldn't do that and to get a crowbar I would have to go to a true hardware store. And I don't feel like doing that. Management isn't that helpful around here. No one really than the person who helped me. They are responsive enough I can just have a hard time getting a hold of them. Will add to my list for tomorrow and do it first. Their office is in the seniors' centre. |
Brenda: That is an idea for the back legs but not up the front. And I would also hurt myself doing that THG. |
6ixStringJack: Don't do that Brenda. Just wait until you can get the help. I'm worried about you hurting yourself just trying to slip something under the legs with a crowbar. This ain't worth tweaking your back and being out of commission for weeks. Do you have any apartment management there that you can talk to for help? Anyone other than the person who helped you set it up since they don't seem to be very responsive to your needs right now? |
THG:
Take a strong belt and wear it like a bandolero, over one shoulder. Get on your knees and put the bandolero under the corner of the bed. Straighten up and as you do you should be able to slip the plastic coaster where you want it.
Look at the soldier. Look how he is wearing a belt of Amo over his shoulder. |
Brenda: I've tried the sitting on the floor a while ago when I got ride of a crappy chair I was sitting on. Problem with that is I have a hard time getting back up again. My neck will never be right again. The surgery to remove the tumour just continued the damage done by that. |
Brenda: A stick would break THG as the frame with the mattress and box spring is too heavy. And I've already rearranged things and I am not unrearranging them then rearranging them again. Also I tried my cane but because it is adjustable, doing that just unadjusts it. Then I have to readjust it. |
6ixStringJack: Can you take your back pillow and sit with it against the wall on the floor while doing your writing for now until you can get help moving the bed? I hate to hear you struggling with your neck like that, but I think until you get help moving that bed you need to figure out something better than what you're doing in the meantime. Don't want to do any lasting damage to the neck for sure. |
THG: Walk outside and pick up a stick
|
Brenda: I've got a cane THG. Just not sure I want to ruin it. I got it cheap for around $20 CAD a number of years ago. Only use it in winter and I don't feel like buying another one. |
Brenda: I wish too. Oh, I will it just might take me a bit longer. Oh, I've done things like that manys a time to different body parts. Hands, fingers, arms, neck. My neck is why I have to sort the bed out. My neck has been so out of whack it isn't funny. Everytime I rotate it, I get a really nice cracking sound but then ow!. |
6ixStringJack: We just assume the worst out of you, Ted. |
THG: Use a stick for leverage. The cane is a stick |
6ixStringJack: Wish I was close and could help out. We'd get you set up right. I'm sure you'll get it all taken care of soon.
Man... I did something to my off-hand wrist in the last 5 or so hours. I don't even know what. It was while I was out shopping, and now I move it the wrong way and there's just shooting pain almost up to my elbow. I must have slept on it wrong and then pulled something while I'm Herculesing my stuff inside instead of taking 2 trips. I'm sure all this constant typing isn't helping. If I'm not typing on my computer to work, I'm taking a break and typing here. |
