This is a lil study. Who do you think is being described in this blurb? (besides River, which I think is obvious)

He touches her on the shoulder. She does not react. She doesn’t even acknowledge him. Just keeps swaying and muttering without sound. He settles beside her, hand still resting on her shoulder, matching the motion. He stares caringly at her down turned face. Her hair is wild and stringy and obstructs her eyes. She still doesn’t look up. He says nothing. Finally, knowing there is nothing for him to say and that she will say nothing, he rises after one last shoulder pat and retreats back down the hall.

Ummm, I'll go with the obvious guess, and say Simon, but it is harder without a time frame. I don't know if I should be including Wash or Book as possibilities.

Yay! I wrote again. First in a long time. I think I wrote this from Kaylee's perspective, at least in Kaylee vernacular, but I'm not really sure why. I know it's short and prolly not very Kaylee, but I wrote. I also don't really know what it's about. Comment as you like.
