May I suggest that Interplanetary Alliance Vessel is a more logical meaning for the I.A.V. acronym? This would be directly akin to United States Ship (U.S.S,) or His/Her Majesty's Ship (H.M.S.). And Independent and Autonomous is somewhat redundant.

Yes, that makes a lot more sense...

Stats on the ships are posted over at the Serenity RPG site, Waves in the Black.

Again, all the info there (except what comes from the RPG) is speculative.

The IAV looks a little small, looking at the DVD, in comparision to Serenity, I'd say it is at least twice the size as shown, but get job on the movie ships. I like the names you have given 'em, I wonder what the offical names are...

Xin Chai Class Express Boat - Images
Here’s another of my ship designs for the Serenity roleplaying game. This one is influenced by the classic pony express of the old west. I wanted something slightly smaller than a Firefly but somewhat faster, used mainly as a courier or light transport. After designing several more functional, industrial-type ships I wanted to make something that a group of player characters might be flying around in.
