Major Movie Spoilers! Kaylee's POV - basically corresponds with the final scenes of the movie.

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 2177    RATING: 7    SERIES: FIREFLY

I appreciate comments of any kind. Thanks for reading.

Wash is gone. Shepard Book is gone. Our home is destroyed. We’re now left to pick up the pieces. The rest of us aren’t sure where to begin. We just got back from the funeral for Wash and Shepard Book, and Mr. Universe. It was harder than I thought it would be. I still haven’t seen Zoë cry. River says she does though, on the inside. I guess she needs time. I guess we all need time. Jayne and the Cap’n just got finished removing the scraps of metal and bits of red paint still left on Serenity. Zoë is doing what little she can. I think it’s hard for her, all the memories of Wash. But, she’s keeping it together. We all are. River helps out too. I saw her doing some mechanical work on the ship earlier. Just laying there putting pieces together. She’s doing better than she was. I guess finally understanding what Miranda was has helped her. It’s helped all of us. Inara isn’t sure if she’s going to leave. I hugged her when she told me this. I hope she stays. Cap’n will want her to. Even if he doesn’t say it. I’m finally finished repairing my girl. She’s been through a lot, but like Zoë said, she’ll fly true. Jayne doesn’t work out as much as he used to. River said he’s mourning. She said the workout bench reminds him of Book, even if he has been off the ship for months. We just need time. River has become the co-pilot for Serenity. She knows more about flying than even the Cap’n does. And that’s saying something. We kept Wash’s dinosaurs on the dashboard, it only seems right. I think if any of us tried to take them down, Zoë would shoot us. I wouldn’t blame her none. Me and Simon finally had our moment. River gave us a fright when Simon saw her peaking in on us. After that though, everything went right as rain. Even better than. We’re about to take off for the first time without Wash. Well, at least without Wash physically. He’ll always be here – he’s a part of this ship until she can no longer stay up in the sky. Maybe even after that. There’s a storm at the moment, and River knows it’s going to get worse. But the Cap’n finally has faith, of what little he can, that we’ll make it through. We’ll make it through the storm. We’ll keep flying.

I think I should stop reading spoilers! Wash and Book, gone will be hard enough when I finnally see the BDM! Great after movie read though! I think I'll come back after I've seen the BDM.

Really short but somehow that was appropriate. I particularly liked the notion that Wash would be with Serenity until she wasn't around any more and as for Mal having faith, that reminded me of the Preacher's last words to the Captain as he lay dying - "Believe!" He would be right happy to think his word struck home. Ali D :~)
