That night, instead of the usual talking and having fun at dinner it was silent and awkward.They were having fresh bao, with protein and cider. Mal is sitting in his usual spot. James is on his left. There is an empty spot by James. Then River. Then Kaylee and Simon who are wanting to act all couple-like but can't 'cause James. Then Jayne who is mad because James took the most food.Last is Zoe, who is eating as fast as she can so she can get out of there.Every couple of minutes Kaylee would try to break the awkward silence but couldn't.

Inara is just getting back from "whoring" as Mal whould say.She walks into the room and can suddenly feel the awkwardness.

"How is everyone", Inara said cheerfully?

"Go-",Kaylee said, trying to continue the cheerfulness, but is interupted by Jayne saying "Terrible".

Kaylee, Mal, And Simon stare at Jayne with frustration in their eyes. Jayne stares back with a look like he could care less.

As soon as Inara sits down in the empty chair James looks at her and gives a look of confusion.Everyone saw the look instead of Inara.

Mal gets so angry his nostrils flare.He's about to say to say something, but Inara beats him .

Mal drops the Bao he was eating onto the plate.

James walks away ticked off and a little scared of Mal.
