He Never Left Serenity: Cindy’s Diary II

The party went fine. Mom and dad really went out of their way to try and throw the best party. Even if we are on one of the most isolated rocks in this system. I went back to Serenity yesterday and I discovered the name of one of the crew members. Above one of the doors was the name “Kaylee”. I had to wipe away all the dust to see it. I hope they don’t mind if I clean up a bit. She must have been the one to paint the flowers on the walls in the galley. There were flowers and lights around her door. She must have been young. Maybe not much older than me, maybe even younger. No luck in getting her door open. The one next to it though, it was slightly ajar.

Not much in the room though. It was weird though, you had to climb down this ladder to get inside. There was a bed up against one wall and a tattered piece of fabric covering a little nook. I pulled the fabric back, but it was empty. I thought the whole room was empty but I found a grenade beneath the bed. I didn’t touch it though. Hopefully, if I leave it alone, it won’t explode.

It made me sad to leave the room. It could have been a spare room I guess, but I have a terrible feeling that maybe the Captain was abandoned. Everyone, even Kaylee, just packed up and left him. I sat with him for a few moments, just thinking. He was a big man, tall and built from the look of his clothes. And probably handsome. My parents say my imagination is overactive, but without it, I wouldn’t be able to see Serenity in all her glory, soaring past the stars and planets. Heading out for adventures unknown, her daring Captain at the helm. I wish I knew his name.

Tomorrow I plan to explore what must have been their infirmary. Maybe there will be medical records or something there that will help identify the Captain.

I just wanted to say I am enjoying these, despite how sad they are. Just thinking of Serenity and her crew after so long has passed ... and Mal, just sitting on the bridge, waiting for someone to find him.

I'm really liking this. Just wish the entries were longer :)

If your intent was to make me feel weepy (though not to actually have me weep, I hope) then you did good. I don't know what else to say except that it's sort of creepy (but in a good way).

It's funny....but the whole idea of Mal being the last person on Serenity for her last flight and eventual resting place on Haven strikes me as Romantic. I use the capitalized form because the scenario just oozes parallels to Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"...but without the "upbeat" (the Mariner lives to teach his knowledge to others) ending:(

Still...lovely work here, Serena81:D

This one was really hard to write and I think it shows. Hopefully I at least spelled Zoe's last name right.
