Brief lil fic about a moment of Mal in the war.

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 1860    RATING: 10    SERIES: FIREFLY

Mal hunkered behind a shallow wall, sheltering himself from the steady rain of fist-sized bits of pulverized buildings.

"Damn, it's wet out." He observed wryly to no one but himself.

The barrage slowed so the chunks of debris became fewer and farther between. Mal checked his clip. Not as many rounds as he would have liked, but it would just have to do. Gathering his brown coat about himself, he brought his rifle to his shoulder and pivoted around his protective wall. His initial spray of bullets efficiently took out two unsuspecting Alliance soldiers as they were still cowering from the debris storm. Mal dashed past their sprawled bodies.

I liked what you wrote so far but it was so short, I am hoping this was a sampler of a longer piece to come. Ali D :~)

I know what it's like to get a brief moment like this stuck in the head... It's a nice glimpse.

On a technical note, as Anon. suggested, you probably don't mean 'cartridge' in that context. The cartridge is the round itself - made up of the bullet (the part that shoots out) and the casing (the part that often pops out the side and jingles on the ground next to the shooter, and contains the stuff that explodes to force the bullet out). Don't feel bad, though. Hollywood has never seemed to learn the difference.

I never state the name, but it's an easy guess. It came to me after watching The Message. He talks about the dreams he had of his parents.

Long-awaited continuation of a (still) unfinished tale. Wash centric. Read the first two chapters here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/bluesun.aspx?bid=10333 and here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/bluesun.aspx?bid=10354

A really short ficlet. Jayne's POV. (I'm writing again! Actually, I've just typed up some things I wrote during class last semester. I've a few more at http://www.fanfiction.net/u/652052/)

Betrayal
Mal's thoughts at Serenity Valley. Who's he most angry at, the Alliance or the Independents?

Smell
Inara reflects on the smell of Mal's browncoat. Very short, possibly will be continued.

Rocket
Wash-sadness. Zoe POV. I can't let the deathfic go.

Stranger
Watched the BDM. Got ideas. Wrote for the first time in a god bit. Mal, River, during the BDM.

Trip Wire
I watched the BDM today. This is a scene from it. Zoe's pov, dialogue from the script.

Stream
Yay! I wrote again. First in a long time. I think I wrote this from Kaylee's perspective, at least in Kaylee vernacular, but I'm not really sure why. I know it's short and prolly not very Kaylee, but I wrote. I also don't really know what it's about. Comment as you like.

The Chair (round 2)
Conpanion piece to my last post. Rive stream of consciousness. More post BDM Wash missing.
