My brush with a F*x employee
Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Many of you know that I am a film student and trying to break into the biz. And on occasion, I am able to attend industry functions. Today, I went to a memorial service for a dear friend, and I discovered that a mutual acquaintance of the departed now works for 2**h C*****y F*x! She's a low ranking officer over technologies. She was in college when Firefly was canceled, so there is no blaming her for that. I wanted to ask why her boss's bosses keep canceling such good shows, but it was not the time nor place for it. Though, I don't think I'll ever bother to ask her if I ever meet her again. It's pretty unprofessional and unbecoming. But, I still wanted to!

Why go through the trouble of converting someone when you already have a fan with studio office experience right here? I've thought many times about finding work there and investigating why Firefly was poorly scheduled and eventually canceled. Knowing first hand the politics that can go on behind-the-scenes, there is something fishy with Fox and their scheduling, in general. I'd bet it has it's rooted in money. That part is evident.

... Or, telling her that Simon isn't that interested in her. Anyways, I just couldn't do it.

Well, I really didn't want to offend her b/c she was so nice. It would have been like telling Kaylee to stop being so cheerful.

Now now, PhyreLight...20th Century Fox - see, you can write it out clearly ;D - was all for Firefly. It's the TV network portion, and not the studio, that decided canning our show was a Very Good Idea ;)

Still...mucho props to your admirable restraint :D
