I saw 'Waitress' last night...
Wednesday, May 30, 2007

So, Waitress finally came to my local movie theater, and I went to see it last night, and I loved it! It's quirky, funny, sad, and sexy with a happy ending.

The entire cast was great! The writing was great! The direction was great! If this was a Fox TV show, it would have been canceled after the first two episodes!

Keri Russell was amazing! From beginning to end, she has you with her for the entire movie. She'll be winning awards for this role. The way she dreads this baby that she carries throughout the film makes the ending delightful like the pies she makes throughout the film. And, I love what she does with the moon pie at the end, which has nothing to do with making pies, btw.

Andy Griffith stole every scene he was in! He's so funny as the crotchety, old horn dog who owns the pie shop, but you still love him from beginning to end. And, when I say he's a "horn dog", I mean he only sounds that way when he talks about his promiscuous past. He'll say something, and you'll laugh and say to yourself, "Did the Andy Griffith really say that??" Yes, he did! Watching him act in this film was worth the $7.00 ticket alone. (That's a student discount, btw.)

And Nathan... I can't comment on this movie on FFF.net without saying something about El Capitán ! Yes, he is wonderful in this film! I know I've said this before, but I enjoy watching him act b/c he is always in character and he's a great listener. ("Listener" in acting terms means that he doesn't drop character in the slightest while other people are speaking; he reacts , which is how you become known as a great actor.) And his character is the nervous type in the beginning of the film, to the sexy doctor, to... well, I'm not going to be like other critics and spoil the ending.

So, yes. As soon as this film hits the theater near you, RUN OVER THERE AND WATCH IT!

Y'know people... this is exactly what Nathan needs to make an impression on the "powers-that-be" -- him in a successful mainstream movie to show off his acting and demonstrate his "draw" potential. Plus any non-FF / BDM people out there may "discover" FF / BDM cuz of seeing him in "Waitress."

It's our duty as Browncoats to make sure the people who see "Waitress" know he was also in FF & the BDM.

I totally agree - it was absolutely amazing! Nathan was fabulous and I thought had really great chemistry with Kerri Russell - who was also fabulous. She showed so much emotion in just a look, I could totally feel her desperation and nervousness throughout. And I agree that Andy Griffith steals just about every scene - and so does Cheryl Hines - whom I adore! She could read the phone book and I'd think it was funny.

But Nathan really took my breath away - I mean, I know the man is good looking, but there were a few scenes where I glanced to my friend and just had to murmur, "Oh my god!" It's those eyes ...

Definitely see it, I agree!

Finally spread to north of the border, since the local major newspaper had a quasi-review - review intermingled with an article about piemaking - so I will have to go see it;)
