My university loves Firefly, and my new sewing project!

So, I'm in the university library this morning looking for the DVD box set of the British version of "The Office" (which wasn't there ), and I noticed that the "Firefly" box set was in the TV series section!

And, I ran into one of my film professors the other day at lunch. We got to talking, and he told me that he's thinking about adding Serenity to the Intro to Film class syllabus. It would be perfect to show b/c sci-fi storytelling grew from westerns, and it would be great as an example of those connecting tissues. It just comes to show you really can't stop the signal!

I was in a local craft shop the other day buying fabric to fix a dress that is a little too low cut on me. (I don't like people being able to see down my dress.) I noticed this brocade fabric with Mandarin patterns on it. This fabric was being sold in squares for quilt making, and it dawned on me to make a quilt in the spirit of Firefly. I bought red, brown, black, and champaign colored squares. I also bought this very simple quilt pattern with squares. I didn't want anything complex b/c I've never made a quilt before. School and work are keeping me too busy right now to start on the project, but once it's finished I'll post a photo in the Blue Sun Room.
