Shark free since 2003
Tuesday, December 19, 2006

It t'was a dream. Yep. I was woken up from this odd dream of being on a boat with several friends. Actually, there were a few boats. Point was, it kept fading into scenes of JAWS, where a large shark, or more than one, would pluck a boater from the ranks and .....you get the idea. But this was odd for several reasons. 1. I have no phobia ( that I'm aware ) of sharks or boats, as I'm often out on a lake. 2. My dream kept switching from 'present' to 'past', as if either one was any less weird. Long story short, in my dream, my crew and I got back to the harbor, and despite some tense moments, with out incident. As we got on dry land, someone shouted " Shark free since 2003! " , as if that was some sort of triumph. At first it felt kinda catchy, but then all realized how morbid and goulish it was. Oh well, all fine on dry land.

Not so fast. Then my dream shifts to some sail boats, racing in the open water. One boat is having trouble. Sails aren't catching the wind, something..but it's not moving too fast. Then either a gust of wind or a tricky wave comes up, and a crew member is in the water. ( I'm watching all this as if it's being filmed from a helicopter )The first grew member in the water gets taken down by a big shark. Maybe a couple others jump in try and save their friend, and all chaos follows. Then there's a guy standing up in the water, on a piece of wreckage. Help is near, but not quite there. He's got what looks like a pole in one hand, while trying to reach a line that'll hoist him up and out of harms way. There's a slim chance he can fend off the shark, with the pole/spear, assuming he sees the shark first. Then the guy becomes me - in 1st person. I'm the one waiting for the ship to come haul me to safety, and yet I can feel the shark about to strike.

Then I wake up. WTF was that about?

Shark free since 2003.

( No drugs, cold medication or spicey foods were involved in the dreaming of this last sequence )

CYBERSNARK

Well, it sounds like your mind is using sharks as a symbol for something, so you might try thinking about what sharks represent to you (dream interpretation is tricky, 'cause not all symbols are universal. Same symbol can mean different things to different people).

I, too, occasionally have had dreams featuring a shark grabbing me and chewing me up. It seems to occur when I am worried or dreading something, as though, I'm being "eaten up" by anxiety. I haven't had one in a while, so hopefully we will both remain shark free for eternity!

Well I don't know , but I'd say you've been under stress lately and feel like a lot of your friends are in need of help you don't have available to give...HUGS sorry for the scary dream though...or it could just be your brain got bored and played Jaws re-runs for it's own entertainment:)
