Big Damn Trailer Preceeds the Walking Dead.
Monday, June 27, 2005

So I saw George A. Romero's Land of the Dead twice this weekend... don't ask. Anyway, the first time we're sitting there waiting for the coming attractions to kick in and I lean over to my buddy & say:

"This is a Universal flick. Wouldn't it be great if they showed the Serenity trailer before it."

He goes:

"Yah, you think they will?"

At this point the lights dim and the coming attractions preamble comes up... then the screen goes blank for what seems a little too long.

BOOM... Serenity entering atmo. The theatre goes silent except for people whispering excitedly: "It's Serenity!"

I had chills. It's one thing to dload a trailer from a website, or talk about it with other Browncoats. But I saw it on the big screen. In a theatre full of people. With my own eyes.

I guess I still had little doubts buried in the back of my brain that it was all a hoax. I found myself thinking... "Go-se, it's really real", and letting go a breath I didn't know I was holding.

They even tried to scare me the second time... saving it till the last trailer instead of the first. But it was there.

And the interesting thing... no date.

I so can't wait now. I couldn't wait before, but now I can't wait even more.

You know, it's funny. I downloaded the trailer a zillion times, saw it before Batman Begins, and I saw the movie 4 days ago, yet I was still excited as heck to see it.

One of the people I saw the movie with, and who had never heard of Firefly (I'll change that, don't you worry) thought the movie looked awesome. Hopefully we have another Browncoat in the works!

I saw it before Batman Begins also and I was so excited that I could barely sit still. It was so much better than seeing it on a computer monitor.
I love the part with Wash "Oh God Oh God we're all going to die" makes me laugh every time.

Comment title sent me to the wierd visual place. ;)

I saw the trailer with Batman Begins. My first time, 'cause I'd sworn not to download it 'til after I saw it "full-size."

And yeah, people's reactions were. . . ambivalent.

I also finally saw the trailer for SERENITY in the theatres in front of GEORGE A. ROMERO'S LAND OF THE DEAD as well. It was a real surprise for me to see the trailer finally (and in front of an appropriate 'Versal flick).

I gotta say, it looks better on a big screen than it does on a computer monitor. I was afraid that the way the projector was set up that a lot of detail that was in the trailer would be cropped out, but it fit on the screen nicely.

I couldn't really tell what the response to the trailer was. I threw in a "booyeah" at the beginning, though. I got a good vibe afterwards.
