CSTS!!!!!!

WHAT A FRAKKIN' WEEKEND!!!!!!!

Here's the NEBC-localised version of the fan film, in case you didn't see the globalised version:

(For whatever reason, Nathan's segment has been removed from this version. Kinda disappointing, truth to say - I was hoping you-all would get to see the whole thing. I even posted a comment on Nathan's Myspace page saying it was a pleasure serving with him. ;))

And when that's over, feast your eyes on some of Tilden (Radegund)'s pics from Saturday night:

(Yes, that is a girl in a Reaver costume you see at the beginning of the second page. I was tasked with warning her when a girl in a River cosplay showed up.)

Friday night gave us, oh, close to 250 warm bodies and a fat lot of fun. Much like last year, folk started showing up about two hours before the show just to be sure of getting in before sell-out. Even though it wasn't a sell-out after all, we still had a blast with the early arrivals doing trivia contests, giveaways, announcements, general schmoozing....which is mostly what I was doing until movie time. ;) Ooooohhhhhhhh....but the FAN FILM!! Gah, I was so sweaty and short of breath after that. Assuming you've watched the above video by now, just imagine what it was like on the big screen. Seriously, how many can say they've seen themselves on the big screen without being professional actors? But as I've made note before, I'm not near as bibbledy about my screen time as I am about helping to spread the signal for Equality Now - and "co-starring" with Nathan, no less.

The night ended with meeting a cute girl in a very cute River outfit and giving her all the shiny on the NEBCs - even though of course she wasn't there alone....figures. :P

For all that, however, Friday night didn't hold a candle to Saturday.

We were right in the middle of the volunteer dinner (which was also a birthday dinner for me and Mace) when Frank, aka Naughtyman, showed up with the most special guest we had all night: MAGDALENA!!!! Soon as she showed up, I knew we were going to have the most awesome CSTS night anywhere in the 'verse.

Soooooooooo....back at the theater, we had yet another 'super secret thingy' in the works for the attendees: "The Mud Plain", an outdoor mock-up of the mudders' tavern from 'Jaynestown'. Serving wenches, musicians and all - even a contest to see who could sing 'The Ballad of Jayne' in its entirety. (And 'The Ballad of Serenity' just for shits and giggles.) At movie time, I and the 76ers (Radegund even had a homemade 76th Battalion battle flag) marched, complete with drumbeat, from the tail end of the line to the theater entrance to lead the crew inside - and I'm here to tell you, none of us expected the rousing cheer from the crowd! A sure sign, I say, of all hands' undying excitement to be there. Sorry, folks, I just can't believe this business about 'waning fan interest' after that night.

(There was even a woman in a Saffron get-up and I made no bones about avoiding her like the plague. To which she puckered up her freshly glossed lips....eheheh, good times.)

I do believe we had the better part of 400 attendees, many of whom got to go home with only the shiniest in raffle prizes. The grand prize was the flight suit worn by the Alliance pilot Mal shoots in the movie, right before going to Miranda. To demonstrate this, Ita_Moon_You held it aloft for all to see while I pulled out my prop gun and snarled at the crowd: "This is how it is. Anybody doesn't wanna fly with me anymore, this is your port o' harbour. There's a lot o' fine ways to die, and I ain't waitin' for the Alliance to choose mine!" Then I marched forward and "shot" Ita_Moon_You as she was holding the suit, whereupon she collapsed against the stage to cheers and claps from the audience. (Not because she collapsed, but because of the newly clarified story behind the suit. Come to think of it, maybe I should have done the 'My cartridge fell out of my gun' number afterward....)

Speaking of cheers and claps, the fan film got almost a standing ovation that night. YUSSSSSS!!!

We haven't yet tallied the amount of money we raised for Equality Now or the amount of food we collected for the Greater Boston Food Bank, but all told it's a good thing we did a two-nighter this year or it's more'n likely would have sold out again. Me, I'm still catching my breath. And practically bouncing off the walls. And muttering excitedly to myself. And already brainstorming for what we're gonna do next year!!

Now I have to go see about that "fan club" Kessa and friends are working on. :P Not to put too fine a point on it, NO FRICKING FANGIRLS!!!!!
