So then, if the illogic of the email author offends, let’s bring in a quasi-intellectual instead, who has the benefit of having lived there as his credential.

The multiculturalists are the enemy-apparent in this article. We already have Kwanza and Hanukkah, do we need more diversity? What about the Hindus, the Buddhists and others? Nobody’s ruled out the others just yet, have they. The potential buyer index may just not have reached critical mass; which the author of the article seems to recognize in his own way.

Why do it during the Christmas season, when a in a few years due to their lunar calendar the observation will be in the summer? - Well, according to the USPS the first issue was announced at the annual Islamic Society of North America's convention and its subsequent reissue came on the anniversary of the original. I would anticipate additional issues would follow suit. Plus I imagine when changing the printer setup, the fewer times a year you have to do it the better.

But those are just the preliminary arguments. The author reminds us that the USA was founded on Western traditions, Judeo-Christian principles. Adding more to the mix (tell me he didn’t use these words) dilutes our foundations. We should, as the Letter to the Editor writer said, Americanize ‘em.

He further argues that giving *I’m being snide now* “Them” their own stamp makes ‘em a religion like any other (that could conceivably “coexist peacefully” with other faiths). It ignores that it is more that just a religion. And he in turn ignores that ALL of the major religions are more than just religions. But the author is much more specific in his scope than I am. He is referring to the violence inherent in Islam (his point, not mine. Talk to the Pope.) As a child the author was mistreated as a dhimmi and that is a shame. I am glad that the USA never mistreated any of its minorities while in the act of nation-building.

Ultimately the multiculturalists are merely pawns in the hands of Jihad-driven Islam. As is PBS as it spouts pro-Islamic propaganda. (!) Wow. This civilly-worded article is strong stuff when picked apart. But the whole of the “outrage” he feels is based upon his history, his background. He was offended by the stamp because it reminded him of his childhood. Those feelings are valid. There are things from my childhood that come up periodically that I would like never again to have brought to mind. But that’s my own feeling. It belongs to no one else. Spiders creep some people out. That’s fine. The spider itself has nothing to do with that. You’ve never encountered it. It has never given you a particular offence. Its spiderhood is what offends you. That is the essence of racism, of labelism, of beliefism, of specieism.
