BROWNCOAT MORALS OR IDEALS WHICH EVER FITS.

Friday, May 2, 2014 11:28:54 PM

Morals of the Browncoats as expressed through the actions of Mal Reynolds. (observations from watching Firefly and Serenity) Not in order of importance. If i left anything out, or if you think there is something i should add please let me know.

1. The strong ought to protect the weak.
2. Man has a right to self rule. This is not to say there doesn't need to be laws. But these ought not to get in the way of freedom.
3. There are going to be those who abuse the law and his fellow man (meaning they will take advantage of the weak). When this happens it is the peoples responsibility to act, through Law and if need be, force.
4. Those who blindly follow are week and ought to be looked after.
5. You can't make people better. And you have no right to try. If they seek to make themselves better, then help in whatever way you can even if that is getting out of the way.
6. People have a right to protect what's theirs. Sometimes that means involving a third party to help.
7. Person wants to strike out on their own (they want to prove to themselves and others that they are no longer weak), that's their right. No one, no government, has the right to take that away from them.
8. Good work ought to be rewarded, not necessarily by monetary means, but rewarded.
9. The Strong, whether that is the government or some other entity (parents, church ect) ought to educate the weak, make them not sheep (this is talking about children and those who are looking to better themselves). Help them find their strength and make them ready to take their place in the world.
10. Might doesn't make right. Just cause the strong ought to protect educate and otherwise look after the weak, doesn't make them the end all and be all of morality or intelligence.
11. There are many different types of strength that a person can call to use in life to help them make their way. Physical strength, intelligence, cleverness, family and friends, charisma, and more. Just cause we have at least one of these naturally doesn't mean we can't learn to acquire another.
12. Freedom is an ideal worth fighting for.
