CAN'T STOP THE SERENITY - SEATTLE
Friday, June 29, 2007 8:11:35 PM
So, I attended the Can't Stop the Serentiy in Seattle at the Admiral Theatre, and I must say, it was an experience. I brought my friend Shayla, who is fairly new to the Firefly Universe, and who had never seen the movie in theatres. So, we arrived, and we mingled a bit outside. I have never been to a shindig or any type of Firefly meetup before, and it was so much fun to talk to others about Firefly and Serenity with other fans. Shayla was also really excited. So, I took a few pictures, not many, and then Shayla and I bought a few raffle tickets, and I bought a magnet and mini poster. We each bought 6 tickets, and we looked around at the raffle baskets and then we decided that we would each put five tickets in the Firefly 101 package because it had a Jayne hat and Firefly the complete series upon the agreement that Shayla would get the DVD set, and I would get the Jayne hat. Then I put my remaining ticket in the River package because it had a t-shirt, and I really wanted a Serenity t-shirt for some reason. Anyways, we watched the Big Damn Movie, and I had seen it many times. There were tears, mostly shed by Shayla and the girl to my right, then the raffle drawing commensed. I must say, the organizers were humourous, and they looked pretty damn awesome in their "authentic" Browncoat gear. Alas, the Firefly 101 package was not to be ours, however I did win the River package, and after my name was annouced, proceeded to rise to my feet and scream YEAH!!!! ala Howard Dean. Everyone was amused. All in all, I had an amazing time at the benefit screening, and am really looking forward to more Firefly related shindigs in the future.
