My Letter to Diamond Select Toys, regarding the BAD figures!

Heya Browncoats! It's been a while... I missed you guys!

Anyway, I'm sure y'all have seen the pictures of the action figures that are being sent around the 'net lately, and I'm sure you're all as disappointed as I am. I decided to take the initiative, though, and emailed the company. Maybe if enough of us do this, we'll be heard, and they'll remodel our Big Damn Heroes into looking a little less bewildered...

The text of my letter follows:

To Whom It May Concern:

As a long-time fan of Joss Whedon's FIREFLY, I've been eagerly anticipating SERENITY for months. All along, I've been chomping at the bit, wishing for action figures of my favourites. When I heard that Diamond Select were doing the line, I was delighted. The BUFFY and ANGEL figures that have been put out have always been of such high quality.

However, having seen the photographs of Mal and Jayne released onto the 'net, I'm strongly considering not purchasing the figures -- even though Mal is one of my favourite characters in the show! The likenesses of the actors are terrible! I'm utterly disappointed, and, having looked at various lists and fansites, that seems to be the consensus! http://fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=9373 -- for example. Please, please tell me these are merely prototypes and that A LOT more work is going to be put into the final project! I really want an Inara and a Simon figure, but I'm afraid that, if these figures don't sell, you won't elect to make any more. And if the likenesses don't improve, I can't really imagine the Browncoats (we hardcore fans ;) ) getting behind this line of figures.

The Jane figure is Ok though.

I was kinda curious about these figures myself so I also e-mailed Diamond Select. The response I received was they are indeed just prototypes and not the final versions. Seems a lot of fans have been contacting them!
