Not specifically Sci-Fi, or new/old.

Apparently, last year's "Best New Show" was that Old Fat Cow-Pung Panda Bimbo show featuring fatty Queen Latifah.

I see that CSI: Las Vegas is starting tomorrow night. I have enjoyed the work of William Peterson since To Live And Die In L.A., Manhunter, and Mulholland Falls. I have enjoyed the work of Jorja Fox. I did not know if their characters were involved in prior editions of the shows.
And Penny Johnson, the boss on Caskett.

I had thought that after The Dumbest Actor In The World had buried the franchise, it was done. But with Game Shows taking over Prime Time, it is nice to see a return with real actors.

I was looking forward to Evil and some others, but apparently they are taken off of broadcast, to make way for more Game Shows.

What other shows are you looking forward to?

Right niow I'm watching SQUID GAMES its a South Korean tv show, its a bit weird, crazy dumb at times the 'game show' element to it, a drama but not really scifi, its more a horror survival series but it is very well done and maybe the best thing out there at the moment

The Mandalorian is fun, that is if more seasons are coming back & WandaVision from Marvel was also good but I feel Mandalorian was better, graphically the show Mandalorian is the best and I think it has funny moments the little Baby Yoda Star Wars puppet is very well done.
I will probably return to watching Stargirl which seems to be a family friendly show or Doom Patrol a more adult version of some DC comics preperty. Sasquatch was fun, its a weird documentary a guy going back through his memories of his hippie life, people drunk or stoned and he's chasing down the memory of a local killing, attempts to solve a bizarre twenty-five year old triple homicide that was said to be the work of a 'mythical creature'.

A show called LoveDeath+Robots I liked that, no overall arc and each episode stands along Love Death + Robots is good like a CGI show mixed with horrible quriky Outer Limits moments, there is a lot of religious horror stuff '30 Coins' the animation folklore 'Trese' from the Philippines, maybe something good from Germany France but I don't remember now. I watched some of the anime style Castlevania I think its made in the US but it feels very Japanese-ish and its fun, I will keep an eye out for 'Blade Runner BlackLotus' I hope it will be good.

I love Ted Lasso.

My old man showed me a few episodes of LoveDeath+Robots and I thought it was pretty good. It's on my huge to-watch list that I may or may not ever get around to going through.

So you 2 are not going to watch any new episodes of TV shows this fall? Only old, reruns, retreads, bargain bin episodes of old shows?

I see that I got that all wrong.

But the new boss did actually appear for an episode of Castle. Maybe she played the sister of the boss.

Anyhow, the show was really good on opening night. Wonderful scriptwriting. Even the diversity hottie was in the Star Wars movie from 2019.

I might try another show

SQUID GAMES

it was a good binge watch i guess, South Koreans are great film makers

was ok but in one ep there was a lot of typical Global socialist homo agenda stuff. It like Netflix can not help but put degenerate 'Cuties' type propaganda hidden underneath any show they touch, typically hollweird stuff hidden in it. More feminist Lesbianism stuff, illegal immigrant is the kindest man compared to the horrible Native South Korean peoples, bashes Christians of course, North Korea bad but South Korea almost as evil and bad as North?...its an entertaining watch but maybe could have been done better, there is something about Netflix propaganda hidden inside their shows that always rubs me the wrong way.

The Mandalorian or some other good show hopefully will be back. I guess I could always re-watch Firefly or some other DVDs.

Ghosts was pleasantly surprising. Well put together, and progressing nicely. Only finished Part one of the 2-part premiere.

It is comedy, but they seem to be treating the medium concept seriously.

Thanks I'll give it a try looking at it I believe its based on British series maybe also called 'Ghosts' perhaps by the BBC. It's strange sometimes British shows are great and other times the US makes better versions of the original entertainment product. I think I stopped watching the original British one because it got predictable but it was also very funny at times.

I am really enjoying the CSI: Vegas.

The first 2 eps were part 1&2 of the pilot. Last night was the first after those.

The continued story line which initiated this reunion continues to be well scripted. And the feature crime of the episode each week is also well written.
It is a pleasure to encounter a series with depth and gravitas in this environment.

Seems that Ghosts is only going to be 1/2 hour shows instead of the hour like the opener.

Yet again, based on trailers, this week's episode looks awesome as well.
Been a long time since I've seen scripting done this well.

Cowboy Bebop live action on Netflix Nov 19. You can catch the original anime from 1999 over at https://www.adultswim.com/videos/cowboy-bebop . This show was of course source material for Firefly itself a few years later.

Tonight's episode of CSI Vegas was as good as advertized.

I would have expected by now to have a favorite type of storyline - either the long term arc case which started this reboot, or the shorter episodic cases.
But both lines are so well crafted that I thoroughly enjoy them both.

Previews for next week also look great.

More and more, I continue to be amazed at the volume of dreck which passes for Prime Time TV.

Looking for a show as good or better than CSI Vegas is tiresome.

When I was a kid, there were only 4 networks, including PBS garbage. And every night of the week, practically each hour of Prime Time, a decision had to be made between more than one really good show to watch.

Tonight's episode had the overarching story arc case and the episodic case intertwining.
And next week looks good, too.

Next week is the season finale for CSI: Vegas.

But I see ads for The Cleaning Lady in Jan, on Fox.
Ads give me the vibe of one of my favorite episodes of er. First season, episode "Blizzard" where hospital aide/clerk/janitor lady named Bob risks her entire future career to save a life.

Last night was the season finale, and did anybody notice that River was on? She played Tiffani.
In the episode Safe, Skylar Roberge played young River along with Zac Efron as young Simon.

I have to say its been a crap year for tv, I enjoyed Wanda Vision but Squid Games is still easily the best thing out there, I might try a show based on 'The Baker Street Irregulars Angels of Darkness' by the Sherlock Holmes writer Arthur Conan Doyle.

It is no longer fall, but still the same season.

So I was jazzed to watch The Cleaning Lady and was happily entertained by the pilot episode.
I look forward to the 2nd ep tomorrow night.

The storylines are interesting, and it sounds like the arcs are going to be twisting a bit and not settling into any rut started in the pilot.

This is my favorite new show I've seen. And best of the week.

I'm not sure how long this show has been on.

I keep seeing ads on The CW for Superman & Lois.
I wonder how the audiences of the 1950s would have thought of a Superman who refused to shave.

I thought there was already an old Lois & Clark in the 90s?

He grows a Beard in Kingdom Come Superman by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, nice story and wonderful paintings in each page, one of the few comicbooks I would recommend.

Hollywood might be a problem, it shits all over the idea of an alien guy with power falling to Earth and becoming American. Whatever happened with Superman the older tradional Moses John Carter idea for superhero American alien guy who stands for America, it seems Hollywerid decided he was 'Un-Cool' they now try to make him into Batman or Daredevil or Blade or they want Superman to be some other thing. They in hollyweird think he should be smashing Zod into buildings and having 9-11 style implosions and collapse of buildings, they think his Alien culture that blew up his own plant is better or they try to make him someone else Dark or Soap Opera Cheating Drama ridden like Smallville because an upbeat story about some guy who embraces the American way and wins is 'Not Cool'. A Richard Donner Chris Reeve Superman for the Hollywood elite who lives as an odrdinary photographer or farmer is not cool. Superman it seems was dead with that weirdo Bryan Singer thery changed the story, who had Superman get Lois preggers, then fly away for many years to become a dead beat dad, then he comes back after many years, starts Spying on Lois, then James Marsden raises the kid Xmen Cyclops Westworld Enchanted...so maybe the kid isn't Superman's kid? Weirdo actor Kevin Spacey comes along and stabs Superman with the only thing that kills him Kryptonite but Kryptoniet doesnt work anymore...and the kid might have super powers after all?

It's not impossible for a 'Dark Superman' to work, it seems Alan Moore or Frank Miller could do it but the stuff today is poor.
Henry Cavill is not a bad actor, if given the correct role he is excellent but what they gave him with 'Justice League' was terrible.

I might just watch a few fight scene clips or Superman alien spaceships on some online social media channel, hours of episodes would be a waste of my time.

Yeah. That was a pretty bad show though. I mean, it was pretty standard for 90's TV, but most of 90's TV was garbage.

Most of 20's TV is complete trash for entirely different reasons, so I don't have any confidence that this will be an improvement.

Just saying that a Lois & Clark remake wouldn't be a bad idea in the right hands. I have no problem with people taking something from the past that was objectively bad and improving upon it. It keeps them too busy from taking something that was already excellent and ruining it for a cash grab.

What's the Circle Network? Was that the one you mentioned a while back in the RWED?

I haven't had cable TV since 2008. I don't even own a TV that can get the over the air stations after they switched to digital in 2009.

It is broadcast. For me, ABC is 2-1, and Circle is 2-3. They usually show a bunch of Grand Ole Opry.
2-2 is always weather, 2-4 is H&I, 2-5 is StartTV, and 2-6 used to be Ion.
