Reaver a la Hellboy?

I watched Hellboy a couple of weeks ago. The thought didn't occur to me back then, but for some reason it surfaced from my subconcious a few days ago: isn't Kroenen something that you would expect a Reaver to look like?

To those who haven't seen the movie: I won't go in depth about Kroenen's character, but in possibly the only genuinely scary scene of the movie a preliminary examination is done to his body and it is explained that he had something called (as I recall) surgery addiction. There were dozens of deep scars all over his body and his eyelids and lips had been removed (I still wonder how he could see without the eyelids helping moisturize the eyes). Apparently all self-inflicted.
