So, I just finished watching "Jaynestown". Great episode - but there was something that's bugging me a little. Specifically, Mal's phrase at the end "It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him was one kind of sommbitch or another. Ain't about you, Jayne. It's about what they need". Knowing Joss Whedon peculiar take on faith and religion, could this sentence be a "stealth blasphemy" towards Jesus and all of his statues? (It's just a curiosity, but I'm glad if someone answers me).

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

No more about Jesus than being about "every man" who has a statue. Statesmen, politicians, military heroes. The statues are made by their admirers, not the heroes themselves, and people tend to ignore the negative in their idols.

I guess...the thing that left me "shocked" was the fear of the possibility that whedon, who had treated so beautifully the concept of faith in the episode with river and book, could make such a " low blow" (yes i am christian).
