Bit of a crosspost, but this one may fare better that the previous online petition to NASA to name real space hardware after our favourite mid bulk transport.

This is the sample sharing email/post containing the link. I've signed it and know several other Browncoats who have as well. Worth a punt. Anyone know if musk is a fan of Firefly?

SpaceX has been awarded the contract to produce NASA's next manned spacecraft, which is tentatively scheduled for launch in 2015. We're calling on SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk to christen the first of these manned Dragon capsules "Serenity," after the fictional ship of the same name in Joss Whedon's "Firefly" universe.

Hi CFL,

no real surprise that Elon Musk is a fan :-)

Might have known that Wendy and Odile on Sending a Wave would have something on this - I emailed both of them directly (I've known them for years and been on the show several times - kinda goes with doing a Firefly podcast too. For anyone interested, the feed/links to Sending a Wave and other shiny podcasts "ahem" are right *here* on this site under the Firecasts link to your upper right at the top of this page)

Will keep an eye on this one, very interesting full story, very possible that this could actually work, fingers crossed for a shiny outcome! I mean, a real gorram honest to goodness spaceship, called Serenity, *in space*...new series of Firefly aside, what could be cooler?
