The best of the old BSG is definitely the pilot/theatrical movie IMO. Sure, Living Legend & Hand of God were great, but the production value just wasn't there like it was in the pilot.
For my money, the best of the New BSG is the Razor movie.
The Mini-series is good, but it begs continuation.
The conclusion moves out of SF territory and into fantasy IMO.
But Razor was cool.

What's YOUR frakkin' opinion?

THESOMNAMBULIST

From the Original:
The pilot episode and the episode where Starbuck and a Cylon crash land on a planet and have to survive together. I don't remember the title. It was near the end of the show though.
Conceptually: The cylon robot design, and the sound of their voices. Outstanding!
Ships: The Cylon Raider.
Villains: That Robot with the pin head. He was freaky: "Your wish is my command.."
Actors: Lorne Green. He provided credibility to the premise.
Humour: Has to be the epsiodes where Starbuck is stringing along two seperate women - 'Faceman' in the making :D
Effects: Bit ropey at times, but I always liked the launching of the Vipers.
Introduction: Always loved the introduction to Battlestar Gallactica. It just set-up the show so wonderfully.

As for the remake...
Hmmm. I wasn't a fan of it particularly but I thought the finalé to season one was the best.
Conceptually: I kind of liked the two seperate stories running side by side.
Ships... Nothing really jumped out at me.
Villains... ? Nope.
Actors: James Edward Olmos
Humour: Can't remember any....
Effects: ZOIC always do a great job, no matter what the effect. So they're all good!
Introduction: A bit limp for me.

That was actually the only really good episode of Galactica 1980, heh heh!

This was one of the highlights of the original series for me. It's something you never quite get over seeing even way back from the first night you saw it in 1978...an event you remember, like where you where when JFK was shot, or man walked on the moon.

As for Galactica 1980, I liked the episode with Ana Alicia as the Mexican farm girl. She was Aurora in the original series, one of my favorite guest characters.

You are perhaps forgetting the most important one:

No Chris. I didn't forget Jane Seymour. I was trying not to remind myself that they killed her off; surely a MINUS to the merits of the original show!
- Great picture of an English Rose.

Oh just remembered another great feature of the original. The Music! I can hum it in my head now as I type. Surely a clear indicator of it's worth as a theme tune; the fact that after thirty or so years I can still remember it.

The original Cylons. Their voices and the sound of the eye bouncing back and forth, ominous and creepy.

As for an episode? I agree with the others, the pilot episode was my favorite. Although, as goofy as it was, the one with the two robots and the library, can't remember the name of the episode. Wasn't one of the robots Ray Bolger?

I hate to say this, an I know I'm gonna catch flak for it but... I liked the Viper-cycles from Galactica 1980. And the episode where Starbuck and the cyclon are marooned on the same planet is the only good episode from that series. I wanted to like it, I really did.

The new series? I liked the 'old' Vipers. A nice update to the Original ones. And again, here, I liked the pilot episodes(s). Razor was a close second. To be honest, I've only seen the first season in it's entirety.
It got a little heavy for me and confusing. Kinda like Heroes season two.
I'm sorry, but I would have preffered the Starbuck character to be called Athena, not Starbuck.

To be fair, she made them do it; she didn't want to do a series at the time, and when ABC changed the order from a mini-series to a series, Jane made her position clear.
I'm just glad she was in it at all!

No flak here.

As far as I'm concerned, it became a "see this episodes' shocking revelation!" kinda show.
meh.
