How to make a Star Wars fan into a Browncoat.

I've managed to turn most of my friends into Firefly fans. It has been fairly easy too. Just invite them over for a movie night, and start showing them episodes. It's worked almost every-time, and I know of five friends that now own their own DVD sets of the series!

One friend has been a holdout though. He's a major Star Wars fan (less so with the last two films), but doesn't like most TV sci-fi on TV. His argument was always "why should I watch a series that only lasted half a season?"

Well, I thought about this, and came up with a comeback that made him stop and think. I asked him how many hours of Star Wars there were? He responded with about ten hours (give or take). Quick math, 5 movies, approx. 2 hours each = 10 hours. I then pointed out that Firefly had 15 hours of episodes, and even if you factor out commercials, that was about the same amount of footage as Star Wars. If 10 hours of Star Wars was worth watching, why would a similar amount of Firefly be unworthy of his attention?
I had him! I maneuvered his arguement into a corner with logic and he knew it. Exasperated, he asked me to let him borrow my DVD set and he said he would watch them over the weekend if he had time.
That was thursday night! Tonight he returns with my set in hand. I told him he couldn't have possibly watched them all, and he was grinning from ear to ear, and said, "That's right. After watching the first five episodes last night, I went out today and got my own set."

He then spent a good part of the evening here compairing Firefly with Star Wars! LOL. "Mal is a lot like Han Solo, but more fleshed out and interesting. Serenity is cool like the Falcon, but even better because it's more liveable." He even mused about how Inara would look in Leia's metallic slavegirl bikini! (Yes folks, he's a big Star Wars geek!) LOL

Yes Browncoats, we have another member. This one was tough, but I love it when I make another convert!!! :)

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.
