Just noticed DMI this morning- had a Robert Heinlein reference in his sig, and I remember several folks--I know there's ECGordon, and me , of course,-- from the "first exposure to SF" thread who are Heinlein fans, and I'm surprised I've never seen a thread here about RAH fans, so, step up....
fave Heinlein story, first Heinlein story, reactions to the films made of Heinlein stories, wish list, whatever.

For me, I've posted it before, I can't believe somebody hasn't made a film out of RAH's Coventry- set here on Earth, so sets would be easy, special effects are not demanding at all, very few futuristic props and goodies that would have to be designed, reasonable amounts of action, good characters, a good theme and a valuable serious editorial point of view.

Fire up your Google-fu and check out Tim Minear's screenplay of The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress.

Has to be one of my all time fav RAH books. Tim does a good job, but it was probably too close to the book for Hollyweird.

The Official Map of The Verse of course shows that Heinlein is one of the larger gas giants. One of whose planetary sized moons is Lazarus...with it's own satelite, Dora.

Joss acknowledged RAH and other great SF writers in the 2006 Hugo acceptance speech for Serenity (delivered by Morena), so he's a fan.

And yeah, RAH, Clarke, Asimov, Niven, EE Doc Smith, Harry Harrison and more all part of my teen conversion to SF as my genre of choice. Have referenced this in several articles on The Signal. Huge influence on me.

Heinlein was my first exposure to sci-fi, and one of the things that first got me really into reading. Book was called "Orphans of the Sky". I've still got it. Followed it with "Have Space Suit, Will Travel". Still have that, too. Then moved on to Clarke, Niven, and others.
