Here are some of my ideas for movie sequels:

-Serenity 2. The crew is doing fine, and dandy. Kaylee and Simon are madly in love. Mal, and Inara are staring their way to a relationship, and River is taking to flying the ship like a fish in water. However, The Alliance wants all of them dead. They were blindsided by the Miranda incident, and are certain River knows more secrets(and there are more believe me) that cannot be told. After months in deep space Mal is itchy to get back to work, and it just so happens he stumbles on information about an uncharted planet. Nicknamed the "Diamond planet" because of all the richness in a special rare mineral that could be beyond profitable for the crew. They decide to give it a go even though it's risky. The planet is treacherous(high winds, storms...volatile). Add to that another ship with a crew nearly as crazy hunting for the same thing, and it could get a little wacky.

-Edward Scissorhands takes a walk.

Edward is living the peaceful life, until the end of the world happens. After noticing a bright flash, he decides to investigate. He walks through post apocolyptic America discovering strange things as he goes. He walks for nearly 100 years thinking he is the last being on earth, until he discovers a tunnel that leads underground. There he finds a race of sun deprived people that accept him. At last Edward is no longer a lonely soul.

Tron 2. Oh wait thats happening. Never mind

Daredevil 2: Based on the Murdock Papers storyline where Murdock is ousted as Daredevil and is on trial for being a vigilante, the whole time he's trying to prove he's not Daredevil when he is, and the whole thing is being manipulated by the Kingpin.

STORYMARK

That would be a cool story, and a different vibe than the typical superhero flick.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

that's what I always thought. just something different from the typical "beat up the bad guy cause he's bad" story

Well, not a sequel but more "nobody watched".

Dwrastler, if you're looking for a compelling and unique story that's pretty original, I got a suggestion for you - and don't let the gloriously beautiful animation fool you, it's very much a serious one.

Scrapped Princess.

Yes, it even sounds like yet-another-bit-of-tripe. Which is prolly why nobody watched it, but believe me, it ain't no such thing.

Can't really expound on that without spoiling, so I won't - I'll just say this, it's sitting right next to Firefly on my DVD rack, and that's durned high praise, comin from me.

ETA: Apparently, and to my surprise, Amazon customer opinion backs that high praise, 27 reviews, 17 of em five star, and 7 of em four star.

I usually don't do anime, and it's not because of the stories. I can fully believe that there are a lot of great anime stories out there. I just don't really like the style of cartooning (is that a word?) in the ones I have seen. It's just enough to the point where I don't watch them.

Also, there's so much I wouldn't know where to start.

Yeah, there's that - but given the drek oozing out of hollywood these days (seriously, Uwe Boll?!!!) I had to start lookin elsewhere for stuff to watch myself.

Only reason I mentioned it was that it was a story I found fresh and original, different enough to be worth a mention, and compelling in much the same way, and for some of the same reasons, Firefly was.

Although a kids movie, The Last Mimsy was pretty cool, hopeful in a way Millenium, although similar, wasn't - books were still better in either case.

-Frem <--Can make Mimzy-Talk sounds, the little ones love that.
