SINGATE

I'm amazed there isn't a thread for this yet. Great episode, as always. In fact the last half of this season was very high quality. It was also a bit unusual in that it focused on the main storyline rather than multiple stand alone episodes.

So the whole Ruby situation is finally resolved. No exactly shocked she was playing Sam all along. I knew the demon blood dependancy was a smoke screen. Sam was able to use his powers long before she came along. The shocking part was that she was operating as a lone wolf. I thought for sure she was in cahoots with Lilith.

I was both surprised and relieved about Lucifer being released from his imprisonment. Surprised because things like this don't often happen in TV or movies, relieved because now the show can end on a high note. I mean it doesn't get much bigger as far as big bads go. I'm guessing he will be something along the lines of The First from Buffy season 7 with the ability to be everywhere and anyone at anytime.

One nice twist is how the angels actually wanted him to be freed. Not because they are evil but becuase the only way for heaven to win the war is to bring about the apocalypse. Can't wait to see how Castiel and the prophet make out next season, assuming they survived the archangel attack.

LWAVES

Yeah it was a great episode and in keeping with the rest of the show as well.

You are right in what you say. This show is willing to do things that others would shy away from. How many other shows would have saved Dean from hell at the last second? How many other shows would have stopped Lucifer rising at the last second?
Not this show.

I'll miss Ruby. Yeah it's no big surprise that there are no good demons but I still liked her. I actually thought that Sam might turn on her and drink all her blood on his way to being bad. And that the season finale twist would be that Dean would have to kill Sam to stop the apocalypse. Guess I was wrong there (glad I am too).

One thing people always forget about angels is that they don't have a soul. They don't care about us peeps in the way that we care about each other.
It's the reason Lucifer rebelled in the first place, he felt that God loved humans more than angels. So bringing about the apocalypse (or at least allowing it to come about) fits perfectly with something they'd do. They want the war because they think they can win it. I'm sure the other side feels the same.

So it looks like we get a whole season of the apocalypse and the war between heaven and hell. Good stuff to watch and I think they'll pull it off.

On a side note both Supernatural and Lost ended their respective seasons with a 'fade to white'. Both in the same week. Is there something at work here?
