Fun With Cliches

One of my favourite Whedonisms is how he'll take a cliche and do something funny with it.

For instance, in the episode 'War Stories'.
Mal is fighting Mishka's henchman.
Jayne is about to shoot him.
Zoe stops him, saying "I think this is something the Captain needs to take care of himself."
Then you hear Mal's feeble voice say "No it isn't!"
Zoe mutters "oh" and then...uh...ONE of them shoots the guy.

So what type of cliche-breaker would you like to see in a Firefly episode?

I can't help but imagine the following;

The BDH's have just helped a small outer rim planet rid themselves of a gang.

All but one - the ring leader (lets call him Brutus) who's riding off into the distance. He has ditched his men and is running for his life.

Mal says "Jayne, get the horses! Let's go get 'im!"

The local sherif puts his hand on Mal's shoulder, calming him down.

"It doesn't matter," the sherif says with a resigned chuckle. "I have a feeling we'll be seeing Brutus again sometime soon."

Mal, with a WTF expression, looks at the sherrif's benign and passive resignation. He reaches down, withdraws his gun, and fires.

In the distance you see the man fall off his horse.

He then looks back at the sherif with an expression similar to that of when Mrs Reynolds asked him if she wanted him to wash his feet. Looks to the sherif. Looks to Jayne. Walks away.

I guess it would be funnier to see than describe...
