IMDB.com used to refer to the movie as Firefly (2004) but now it's (2003). I was kind of hoping for a 2004 release date. I thought the date means the year it's expected to be released.

I know the movie hasn't been greenlighted, this change in date makes me curious.

So I guess they're convinced the movie will be released by the end of the year. How many appendages would you cut off for that to be true?

yeah, IMDB relies mostly on fan submissions. so you have to take stuff like that with a grain o' salt.

HUMBLE

could this advance from 2004 to 2003 for production be just a typo? i don't think so. i think joss has had some sort of thumbs up from the money people. this being a direct result of dvd sales and fan base. i optimistically predict that an announcement for movie will happen either late this year(2003), or early in 2004. i also think there will be a rider or clause in the movie contract that will allow for tv series development based on movie gross.

I looked at the IMDB link you put up and when you check the release date it says December 9th - so I think whoever changed it on the site mistook the movie page for the TV show/DVD page.

On a side note, Amazon gives the DVD set the year "(2000)." I just noticed, has it always been that way? Is our world run by monkeys?

They seem to do that alot. Look up any of the Babylon 5 DVDs: they are all set as (2000) as well.

Oh, my God! Who's flying this thing? Oh, right, that would be me...
